07:13 AM ET 06.23 | Chad Jackson's rehabilitation from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in the Patriots' AFC Championship game loss to the Colts is going well enough that the receiver could be ready for the start of the season.

Titans... Eagles.... Falcons... will be paying very close to the cuts in New England...

you could form a nice starting line-up at WR with their cast-offs...

June 23, 2007  08:38 AM ET

Yea but Chad's not going anywhere. Theres no need to rush him anymore with Moss, Stalloworth, Welker, Washington, and ol' reliable troy brown hopefully returning. Caldwell Gaffney and childress would be the first to go.

Dam thats a sweet WR corps!

OMG! that would be downright ridiculous. Brady could have a monster season. Is it football season yet?

June 23, 2007  10:49 AM ET

Caldwell's fate was sealed when he dropped those two balls against the Colts in the AFC championship.

June 23, 2007  10:49 AM ET

The Pats are going to keep Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Caldwell, Brown, Jackson, and maybe Washington. Gaffney and Childress are definitely gone.

June 23, 2007  11:04 AM ET

The key point in the article is not that Jackson could play but rather that he has matured and is "more prepared mentally than ever before." Rumor had it that Jackson wasn't quite ready for the responsibility that playing as a professional in the Patriots organization requires, and that, combined with injuries, limited his playing time. Maybe he'll remember to bring his playbook to meetings now....

I am glad. I like Chad Jackson....He will have a up hill climb but at least he will have an oppourtunity at it sometime. A+ for the Pats this offseason. They will be playing my Cowboys for the Superbowl.

June 23, 2007  01:45 PM ET

I know the Patriots fans are going nutz about their offseason moves and i don't blame them. Lets be honest though, Moss is an aging receiver who has no heart when it comes to the game, Donte has all the heart in the world but his body always fails him, Welker was always a good slot nothing else, jackson has promise because of his age but he was the number 1 of a very poor reciever class, and gaffney proved he has got the talent but its not sure whether he has got the brain. They let go of ben watson who was a go to tight end. What i mean by gaffney having no brain is because he was let go by the texans because he wasn't learning the offense and was let go from philly for the same reason.
I am merely playing devils advocate but with the recent history, tom brady could be throwing it to just about anyone and be successfull.
I am not a Pats fan but Brady is bar none the best qb in the league, take away peyton's receivers and line and then we will talk.

Wow a first round pick who seems useless on the roster... But this is New England and every damn thing they do is golden. Everyone knows that WRs are basically useless until their third season (yes there are a few exceptions) so what does New England do... They sign the best WRs with Volatile yet productive Seasons to basically run the show until their stud develops under the radar, Then when Randy can't take being good no more they can his **** and roll out Chad... I hate NEW ENGLAND

June 23, 2007  04:48 PM ET

He won't play much anyway, behind Randy Moss, Donte` Stallworth, Wes Welker, Jabar Gaffney, Kelly Washington and Reche Caldwell.

June 23, 2007  05:21 PM ET

Chad Jackson Is the Pats rising star. Yes, He probably will not get alot of playing time, although he will probably act as a security blanket. The Pats recieving core should look like this going into week 1;

1.Randy Moss
2. Donte Stallworth
3. Wes Welker
4. Kelly Washington/Jabar Gaffney
5.Reche Caldwell
(6)Chad Jackson/PK Sam (who had an excellent year in NFL Europa)

June 23, 2007  05:24 PM ET

Peyton manning has weapons just as good as these without worrying about attitudes and baby mamas

June 23, 2007  05:24 PM ET

Chad Jackson is very talented. He will be a big part of the Pat's future. I think Moss will be inspired to play well once again. Welker is an excellent slot reciever and Stallworth when healthy is very productive.

Gaffney and Caldwell will be luck to be in the league next year.

June 23, 2007  05:33 PM ET

chad jackson has great potential and i really like his game, but then again i said the same about bethel johnson, people need to stop comparing manning to brady, bottom line is brady wins games that his team is expected to lose, while manning losses games his team is expected to win, also imagine brady's numbers if he played atleast half his games a year indoors like manning does...

June 23, 2007  05:37 PM ET

hey dolemite, the pats let go of daniel graham not ben watson, watson is a flat out stud..

June 23, 2007  05:44 PM ET

Brady has always had a more talented team surrounding him. Colts defense usually make it easy for other quarterbacks to look like pro-bowlers. Indoor games are only advantageous if the weather is very bad. How many games were played at any stadium this year that had heavy rain or deep snow on the field. Both teams are playing in the same situation. Playoffs are different but that is why you win as many games as possible during the season. I would much rather route for a classy team even if they are losing.

June 23, 2007  05:55 PM ET

indycolts21,obviously you have never played football outdoors in nov, dec or jan,if you think that playing outdoors and indoors are the same, the biggest factor is the wind, not the snow or rain... and how was brady surrounded by more talent than manning, his first superbowl was won with troy brown, david patten at wr and jermaine wiggins at te,and antwon smith and j.r redmon at rb...yes pats have had a better def,but manning weapons have been far superior to brady's

June 23, 2007  06:11 PM ET

mackman you obviously cant read. Defense was and is the colts biggesst problem. Yes wind is a factor especially if you dont have a strong arm. We heard all of the Brady complaints all season about his receivers. Manning's first superbowl was won with a defense ranked about 30th most of the season. I really dont think you played football. A quarterback is only able to win if there is a team around him. Ask Dan Marino.
