KC's Greinke won't commit long-term

Zack Greinke sounds like he intends to take a wait-and-see approach before committing to a long-term future with the Royals. "I'm comfortable with my pitching ability," he said, "to (the point) where I feel like I'm going to pitch (well) for a while. I don't need to get a long-term deal because I feel I'll be able to pitch (well) and earn a long-term deal when I become a free agent." Club officials previously indicated a desire to work out a long-term contract for Greinke, who isn't eligible for free agency until after the 2010 season. The club's preference is to buy out at least one year of free-agent eligibility. Greinke indicated his decision might hinge on the Royals' on-field success.

If it comes to that, there's a good chance Greinke will be wearing another uniform in 2011...

I hope he decides to commit long term to KC.

Agreed.

There's no way he's a Royal if he expects results.

Can you blame the kid? He is tired of losing! Plus, he can get a lot more $$$ and hot chicks if he leaves KC.

The Royals are no Tampa Bay, they are going to suck for a long while. I like it when players stick it out with teams and then have success (ex. Helton w/ the Rockies or Kazmir with the Rays) but I just don't see that happening here. I'd split too.

The Royals are gonna be better soon, but only if this guy stays.

The same guy who predicted the tampa bay rays to win the east 2 years ago said in 2010 the royals will win the central and go to the playoffs. Dont forget the central is not very good at all. And the white sox who won it are extremely old
