Exiled Stephon Marbury was summoned yesterday morning to a 45-minute meeting with Knick president Donnie Walsh at the team's Westchester headquarters, and the sides held preliminary discussions about a buyout, two sources told The Post. Marbury, who has no agent, was joined by Players Association attorney Hal Biagas. The ball is now rolling for a Marbury-Knick divorce. A team source said an official breakup could happen in one week.

I forgot who said it-
but someone called this a week ago.....
that if the knicks got off to a good start- he would go back
on his 'not taking a dime less' stance.

Bottoom line is - it needs to get done-
and is beneficial to EVERYONE

This has to be done and soon. Enough is enough with the Marbury and the Knicks story. It's getting to be a bit much.

November 14, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Didn't know they were married.

November 14, 2008  10:08 AM ET

I'm sick of hearing about it. Who cares about a guy way past his prime, And a once proud franchise that has turned into the skidmark on the underpants of the NBA. Buy him out and I hope STARbury will just take his weak sauce to Europe.

November 14, 2008  10:13 AM ET

...if/when this happens, i'll look for him to surface in miami.....

November 14, 2008  10:19 AM ET

good let's make it happen and get on with it! he should consider going to And1 he's the perfect street baller.

November 14, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Starbury to Wade County...

November 14, 2008  10:33 AM ET

Who cares? Really!!!

November 14, 2008  10:38 AM ET

...now that he's seen that walsh isn't going to make d'antoni play him, he has to take a reduced buyout if he wants to play this season....

November 14, 2008  10:39 AM ET

Starbury can take himself, his cheaply made shoes, bad tattoos, and worse attitude and leave for Europe. No team in the NBA would pay this guy a dime. He'd be a great fit for the Armani Jeans team in Italy.

November 14, 2008  10:43 AM ET

I love that the Knicks have started so well with this bum having nothing to do with it. I wouldnt sign him to play if he agreed to play for free. Cancers arent needed anywhere.

November 14, 2008  11:08 AM ET

Good move.

I'll track where he lands for the Nation and keep everyone informed of his stats.

November 14, 2008  11:16 AM ET

About time.

November 14, 2008  11:20 AM ET

There's been alot of comments on here about Steph the last couple of days myself included. Mines have been pro-Steph and that he would end up on another team this year and not be a distractions. Mostly everyone else has been "He's a cancer a bum no team will sign him, he will destroy whatever team he goes to". I willing to come back say I'm wrong and let some of you idiots roast me if any of the negative turns out to be true. But how many of you keyboard GM's will do the same if Steph has actually matured?

November 14, 2008  11:37 AM ET

Always overhyped and overrated, remember the self proclaimed "Starbury". Get this premadonna outta there. Marbury along with Isiah was the poster child for how much of an absolute joke the Knicks are. Never been a big fan but its too bad the organization is the way it is. Hopefully with some of the changes they made and the "Marbury Divorce" things can start heading in a more positive direction.

Marbury is a funny cat though based on his linguistics alone. "That was my better half, my better ****, my wife." Haha. Classic Stephon, classic.

To respond to AO7, Marbury has not matured. He's done bro. He's like Pacman Jones Light without the rap sheet, still a detriment to any team.

I always admit my errors-

In this particular instance- I am EXTREMELY confident that
Steph hasn't 'matured' and even if he did.....
after 10+ years in the league & all the wear & tear.
He is not going to return to the unlimited potential 22 year old
kid circa 1995- his skill have eroded (not gone- but eroded)
and you don't just magically mature -
his GAME is bad when it comes to TEAM BALL....period.
You don't 'change' or 'mature' after 10 years-
he would have to literally start over- and with his age-
it can't be done at the high-level you expect from him-

Can he go to a team and be a 10th man- sure
a spark off the bench- sure
a KEY COG in a championship run ????>>>>> NO WAY

November 14, 2008  12:22 PM ET

yeah its messed up he was supposed to be our savior now were gonna pay him to leave straight up dumb, he might end up in miami or the spurs

I admit my mistakes as well, however like you I too have been pro-Stephon.

This is really getting old, let the guy walk and go on with his career. I understand he is a cancer to a team but that is something he has to deal with not the organization.

JGB your not hard to find and I know you argue fair. It's the other 1st, 2nd, 3rd, time poster who created profiles just to say something negative that I'm talking too.

Were going to let time tell on this one the end of the season should be long enough....
