Spurs, Heat interested in Curry

Eddy Curry met briefly with his agent, Leon Rose, before Tuesday's game. Curry has been sidelined since the second game of the season with a bruised right knee. He is expected to be out another two weeks. Mike D'Antoni had removed Curry from the rotation before the Knick season opener. There is interest in the center from the Spurs and Heat. Miami may be willing to trade D'Antoni favorite Shawn Marion, but a potential deal with Curry is complicated because their salaries don't match.

First the JETS win & now someone is interested in fatboy????
- best week of my life-

November 14, 2008  08:58 AM ET

Oh yeah......
seeing a picture of Curry in the #34 jersey is an embarassment
when a REAL basketball player...Mr. Charles Oakley wore that #
for us in the 90's.........
if he had 1/8 the heart of Oak- he could've been SHAQ

November 14, 2008  09:04 AM ET

The longer this guy sits on the bench the more detached and the less he cares about the game. He also gets fatter which decreases his trade value. They need to get a deal done asap if teams are really interested before they come to their senses.

I think the Spurs will want him to play defense and rebound.

For real he is kind of dumping on the Oakley legend a bit.

Curry needs to be moved so if Donnie can find a taker he should just do it. He's never going to play for the Knicks and unlike Stephon he has a moveable contract so if he finds a deal, get it done.

Yeah, I can't see the Spurs either. Last thing they need is an offensive guy clogging the post and taking away some of Duncan's room.

The Heat has been involved with Curry for awhile now. Not sure what they could offer back but if the Heat want him, they can have him.

Work out the Shawn Marion deal, that would be great for NY and Riley is nutty enough to do it.

BTW, I love the picture FN chose of Curry getting his shot rejected, cold very cold.

November 14, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Marion is one scrub to many Curry is worst we dont want worst trash!

November 14, 2008  10:32 AM ET

if anything miami is goin got get him ......but he is not going to make a differens

November 14, 2008  10:45 AM ET

I think this would be great for Miami...We already have Haslem playing the 4...But I think we the more realistic deal will be Blount (who's in better shape than Curry) and Dorrell Wright/Daequan Cook...that way, NY can just buyout one of those cheap contracts...Blount would work better in Mike D'Antoni's system because he likes shooting from outside...

the contract is 'moveable' but it will be difficult with 3 years
and his history of being an utter disgrace.......

I think he would actually be productive on a team like the
Cavs where you know LBJ would get on his large back-side
if he screwed around

Yeah I know his background is going to make it difficult but I am praying that someone takes that contract. I'm not claiming to be a Knick fan, but honestly I am tired of seeing my hometown team suffer.

I want you and all the other fans here to be happy about their team...

November 14, 2008  12:54 PM ET

marion for curry sounds good he can play 3,4 or a small 5. salaries dont match but miami has alot of overpaid bums shoot we'll take marion and a bum like blount dont sound all that bad but if curry not gonna play then why not? plus marion is in the last yr of contract so money off the books?

I actually am happy about the Knicks- of course I am
also a realist- in that we are absoultely not going to
compete for a ring this (or next) year.....

What I really like is that they have a persona-
- granted the run & gun hasn't ben shown to win titles
but at least we're seeing TEAM ball
- which we have SORELY lacked as of late

No it wouldn't cause Shawn Marion would be out right after this year. D'antonio was the one he wanted to get away from in Pheonix. When he was the real MVP there...

November 14, 2008  01:33 PM ET

Why would you trade Marion for an over weight Power Foward, Marion can defend better, shoot better and overall play better, why would Miami make such dumb deal, Curry would not benefit the heat in any aspect of what they are lacking on. I would be disappointed in Riley if he made such dumb decision. If that happens expect Wade to opt out of his contract when its up

November 14, 2008  01:48 PM ET

It all depends on the strings attached to the deal. So long as we do not take back any contracts back that's good.

November 14, 2008  02:14 PM ET

I think the Spurs are interested in HELP. Curry can't help anyone including himself unless he committs to getting in some kind of shape. Note: ROUND isn't the shape we're looking for.

November 14, 2008  02:57 PM ET

Spurs desperately need offense. Anywhere they can get they need it. Their frontline is not very solid with only Oberto nor their guard play with Manu and Parker out. Even when they are back, they need more fire-power on the bench. Roger can knock shots down. Udoka is in limbo. Who else? Finely is itoo nconsistent now. Horry & Barry are gone. I hate to see Duncan in a situation like this.

November 14, 2008  03:07 PM ET

Finely is too inconsistent now, that is. Forgot to mention Kurt who is the only other player I like besides Duncan that is suiting up right now.
