Angels haven't closed door on K-Rod
Though Angels owner Arte Moreno said this week that "it's time to turn the page" on negotiations for Francisco Rodriguez, both General Manager Tony Reagins and the record-setting closer's agent said the door remained open for a possible return to Anaheim. "There are scenarios where we'd consider bringing Frankie back and scenarios that do not include Frankie," Reagins said. "Nothing has changed from what we've discussed with him."

"There are scenarios where we'd consider bringing Frankie back and scenarios that do not include Frankie," Reagins said. That second one is also a scenario that doesn't include the playoffs. If they're going to pick and choose where they're going to be frugal, this is definately NOT the guy to it with.

The door may not be closed, but it's only cracked and they've wedged a doorstop underneath it.

Take it from someone who is a HUGE Angel fan: we're better off WITHOUT Frankie. Arredondo showed he has the stuff to get hitters out, and we can take the $15 million+ annually K-Rod will take, and put it toward Tex. Frankie was not the top closer in the game last year, he's not in Mariano's or Papelbon's class. Sure, he got lots of opportunities for saves, but he's not an overpowering automatic-out kinda guy. Let him go...

I didn't see too much of him except when he was approaching Bobby Thigpen's record. He didn't look overpowering. I'd rather have Lidge.
