Will Patterson leave TCU?

TCU athletic director Danny Morrison has said repeatedly that he wouldn't be surprised if Gary Patterson is on every school's short list. After all, Patterson's teams are 71-27 in his nearly eight full seasons as head coach at TCU. So what will Patterson do? Patterson is already compensated nicely, especially for being at a school without an automatic tie to the BCS bowls. He is signed through 2012 and is making about $1.3 million, which is believed to be the second-highest salary among "non-BCS" coaches. Being in Texas means there's plenty of talent to go around, and the Frogs now have the facilities to go head-to-head with every school in Texas.

yes

I would love for him to my school, Kansas State, but I just don't see why he would bother. Same reason Snyder didn't leave. He's invulnerable and comfortable. Why bother leaving for some lousy 'major' job when he has everything he could want there? Except for a shot at a national title.

Nope he;s got a good thing going at TCU and knows it. He won;t go to another team in a mess that he has to fix and take years to rebuild and tarnish his record there if it fails

he knows how to produce good teams that play very good defense ... albeit the discipline is a little lacking; and I'm sure he knows what would happen if he were to be the HC of a title-contending school; it all comes down to how much does he want the NC ... 'cuz his chances of getting it at TCU are pretty slim; I can just imagine there are some ADs out there wanting to hire a coach that can defense the high-power offenses populating the sport; it wouldn't surprise me if he goes somewhere else in the next three years;

He won't leave, in four years the MWC will be in the BCS and his program will be a regular in BCS games. Why would he leave that to go to a current BCS bottomdweller?

Patterson, like all other coaches aspires to win a national championship. He was a player at K-State. He and his family are from the area. K-State will pay him more money. I think this is a no brainer. I also think TCU will try to hire 2nd year coach David Bailiff away from Rice to replace him. 3 years ago, he was a win in an ot game away from playing for the Div 1aa National Championship against Appilachian State. Bailiff will probably win one of the next two games at Rice, giving him 8 wins. 8 wins at Rice is like winning the Super Bowl. He was very well liked by the school and the program when he was TCUs def coordinator under Fran Bailiff is a great recruiter. June Jones Base at SMU is 2.2 million and Bailiff 's base is 400k and change. Patterson is making 1.3 mil, reportedly. More money, more money, more money
