Senators looking to deal?

Senators GM Bryan Murray could be ready to send wakeup call of his own through the club's dressing room by making a deal. Sources say it's no coincidence the Avalanche had three scouts in the rink because they're looking to move defenseman Jordan Leopold. While the Avs would likely covet winger Antoine Vermette in return, Murray has been actively working the phones and likely won't sit still much longer.

Murray shows his genius once again by lokking to deal...but NOT for goaltending. Goal is definitely the weakest link on this team and has been for years.

Bryan Murray should be on the same train out of town as Barry Melrose.

I think more than a few GM's are on edge with Burke out there.....Murray included. I wouldn't put it past Melynek to try and grab Burke away from Toronto.

I read this on Adrian Dater's blog on the Denver Post yesterday. It would make a lot of sense, although I'd rather see the Avs try and move Brett Clark than Leopold. Vermette would be an awesome pickup, though.

Didn't T&R recently say Vermette could go to Florida for Bouwmeester?

T&R is obviously the most reliable source when it comes to hockey, so why wouldn't the Sens deal for Bouwmeester over Leopold?

I wish they's dump Fisher instead of Vermette. Fisher is overrated and overpriced now though and no team will take him.
Vermette is solid. Good playoff player too. But Ottawa desperately needs defence and a goalie though so unfortunately they have to let this guy go.

Absolutely. Murray is incompetent.

When you lose the best goaltender in history it's hard to replace him. I love Roy he was always in position and always reliable. I wish Brodeur wouldn't break his records.

i would hope that murray is trying to unload gerber..... the avs have been coveting a goalie.... though im sure they would like a better one then gerber... they probly dont want to give up alot.... would be nice to see gerb salary go down the road..... cant move vermette... hes were the limited secondary scoring starts.... i wouldnt want fisher to go anywhere either.... he isnt the goal scorer youd hope for and hes a little streeky but hes a little tank on skates... plays pp and pk and hits everything that moves.... hes one of the few "sandpaper" players the sens have....

Murray shows his "genius" by looking to deal but then, not making the deal. He's been doing this for a while. A number of times a deal was on the table but ..... he backed out at the last moment. Reluctant to pull the trigger, he is.
