09:25 AM ET 11.15 | Tiger Woods, initially thought to be lukewarm on the idea of golf in the Olympics, was one of a number of top players who featured in a video aired when representatives of the International Golf Federation formally presented their case to the International Olympic Committee Programme Commission. Making the presentation in Lausanne on Friday were Royal and Ancient chief executive Peter Dawson and US Tour executive Ty Votaw, executive director of the IGF Olympic Golf Committee. The video also featured women's world number one Lorena Ochoa, Phil Mickelson, Annika Sorenstam, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia.

Imagine John Daly as an Olympic gold medalist? Friggin' awesome. They should make golf an Olympic sport just for the chance of seeing that.

In fact, any game/sport you can do while you drink and smoke probably shouldn't be in the Olympics. Not that the Oly athletes would do this. Just sayin'. I don't recall Al Oerter throwin' anything with a Kool in his mouth and a Heineken in his hand.

- how do you know what al Oerter did under the bleachers>??
baseball players used to smoke in the dugout-

bottom line...is golf a 'sport' ?
- I personally don't think so- but the olympics are in theory
about competition - so it doesn't really matter- the point is
that most (I would think) countries play golf & could compete
at a high level- I mean are you watching badminton ?
- but wou would watch golf

As if the Olympics wasn't inane enough.
