Blackhawks turn down Nylander deal

Sources familiar with the negotiations say the Blackhawks turned down a deal last week that would have had Michael Nylander, now with the Capitals, wearing the Indian Head by this weekend. Someone in that Hawks' lineup would have to be going back to D.C. to even out some of the $8.5 million Nylander is due over the two seasons after this one. The likeliest candidates: Dustin Byfuglien (two more years at $3 million per) or Brent Sopel (two more years at $2.5 million per).

Cough....bullshyeat...cough...

i would have traded sopel really but not byfuglien....byfuglien is one of the most versatile players you have on your team right now you cannot get rid of him

If the Caps don't have a problem unloading Nylander & his contract, something would certainly be strange in Dodge.
Too old, too much paycheck, not enough stats. He may very well end up wilting on the vine in Washington for the rest of this season.

Rangers should have kept him 2 years ago. He and Jagr were unstoppable; reminds me of the new Guns N' Roses song, "Scraped."

I'll tell you who's hoping that Dustin Byfuglien gets traded out of Chicago...the guy who has to type all the players names on the stat sheet every night, that's who.

No way the 'hawks are sending Byfuglien for Nylander. Sopel I could see, I wouldn't imagine that they're in the market for a past his prime winger who's grossly overpaid, especially this early in the season.

Nylander to Russia!

That seems likely.

The Hawks would've been stupid to give up just one leg of either one of those two players for that soft, spoiled, overpaid whiner!

Nylander to Russia? Indeed! That's where he belongs!

Nylander was a healthy scratch on Friday (not sure about Saturday). That gives you reason to believe the Caps and Hawks were talking. He certainly isn't off to much of a start this year.

Yes, he was scratched. He cut himself while shaving ..... with an electric razor! Just couldn't play with that boo boo on his face!

Nylander for Huet. Theodore has been garbage this year

As they should...Nylander is a great play maker, however, he is up there in age and his speed and abilility to work the puck like he used to has made him less marketable. He won't draw on big trades.
