Blown Steelers call could affect playoffs
Though the NFL couldn't care less about outraged Steelers bettors who lost $32 million because of yet another officiating fumble storming the Las Vegas sportsbooks yesterday, today or tomorrow, the league ought to care about the integrity of its playoff tiebreaker system and how it could directly impact the Steelers and their AFC brethren. NFL, you admitted you got The Touchdown That Was Ultimately Ruled No Touchdown wrong. Now get it right. The final score, after further review, after Troy Polamalu's Touchdown That Was Ultimately Ruled No Touchdown on the last play of the game, should be 17-10, or 18-10, not 11-10. I give you Nos. 7-11 in the NFL tiebreaker formula: 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in conference games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games. John Avello, director of race and sports operations for the Wynn Las Vegas Casino Resort, believes the NFL could - and should - get it right and change the final score.

Geez...can you let it go already? It's over, it's history. Like the Chargers / Broncos game. Just one of many blown calls this year. You're beatin' a dead horse.

If this would of happened last year to the Patriots and the officials got the call right.......the score would have been 19-11,because the Patriots would most likely have gone for the 2 point conversion. They probably would have used their last time out,if one were available.

That blown call also took some shine off of what was a stellar defensive performance by Troy Polamalu. I know that I wasn't the only person staring, dumbfounded at that interception he made.

That guy is amazing! When I first saw him diving for the interception in slow motion, I thought there was no way he was going to make that catch...

Hmm....you'd think if that was such a concern teams wouldn't sit on the ball to end the game so often....you know, because of the off chance that if one of the 43 other tie-breakers doesn't break the tie, it comes down to that.

Well...I hope the NFL is happy. A Division with in its product that so thoroughly sucks across the board, everyone has a shot for the playoffs and it will come down to a matter of points scored per game.

The bigger issue is the tie break rules number 7 - 11. If that is what gets you in to the playoffs then you are very lucky to be there to begin with...

20 years ago, plays like this earned special names and didn't get reviewed or over-turned after the fact. So rather than the Holly Roller, let's just call this play, "Blind Zebras on the Take." And move on...

I have seen the eventh tie breaker inacted alomost once. The 2004 NFC but the Vikings blew a 17 point lead in two and a half min to the wort team in the league and in the end in didn't matter. Point is, yes it was a bad call but except for betting and fantasy football, it will remain irrellivent

This is the 2nd blown interception call on Polamalu in as many years.
The NFL is turning in to a joke, a sissie leauge where they spend more time examing if a linebacker threw a quarterback down with "aggression" rather than making sure the correct calls are made in games.

Seriously, if it comes down to the 7th through 11th tiebreaker, you're not going very far in the Playoffs. That being said, it was a terrible call. Fortunately it did not affect the outcome of the game.
