Mike Teel thinks about the irony of situations about as often as he does individual records -- which is to say, never. So it hadn't dawned on him that when he does become Rutgers' career passing leader -- which will happen either on Saturday against Army or on Dec. 4 against Louisville -- it will be at home. Rutgers Stadium has hasn't always been kind to the Knights' fifth-year senior, especially this season, when he heard plenty of boos during the team's 1-5 start. Most quarterback cheers then were saved for Teel's backup entering the game. The past three games -- against Pittsburgh, Syracuse and South Florida -- Teel is 58-of-86 (67 percent) for 931 yards with 12 TD passes and five interceptions. When Rutgers was at its lowest point with five losses in the first six games, Teel was ranked 97th nationally in passing efficiency. He's now a respectable 42nd. Teel said it was a sit-down with head coach Greg Schiano that provided the impetus to his dramatic turnaround. Schiano's message, he said, was simple: Be selective in your leadership, work and prepare hard, then go out and have fun.

Hey Rutgers is one win away over Army from another bowl bid. Teel was doing poorly through the first 6 but the lightbulb finally came on.

Good for him and the Scarlet Knights.

Schiano has done a great job there. Rutgers couldn't keep up the kind of years they had with that one great year, but Schiano is a very good caoch and Rutgers is a good fit for him.

With a free ticket from my long-time suffering Rutgers fan-brother, I recall being at Rutgers Stadium a few months back as North Carolina routed the Scarlet Knights and witnessing the most ignorant, impatient, obnoxious fans I've seen since my last time at Yankee Stadium. The boos were raining down in the first quarter. Parents, brothers, and sisters of Rutgers players were being cursed at by drunken men. The same neandrathal morons cat-calling at ESPN's Erin Andrews on the sideline.

Now look all of you stupid **** New Jersey bandwagon jumpers. The UNC loss turns out to be nothing to be ashamed of, and the guy you booed and wanted fired, Greg Schiano, is turning in the best coaching job of his tenure at RU.

You idiot newbie fans (who haven't a clue about college football anyway) don't deserve to enjoy the turnaround Rutgers has produced. Good for Teel, Schiano, and RU. As an objective observer, I hope the Knights do get to a Bowl Game. But most of their new "fans" should be banned from the stadium.
