Two weeks after announcing he was being forced out as Tennessee's Coach, Phillip Fulmer said Tuesday he's open to future coaching opportunities. Fulmer said he's focused on the Vols' final games against Vanderbilt and Kentucky. After that, he plans to proceed with caution and won't jump at the first coaching vacancy that comes his way. While speculation on his future is only natural, Fulmer said he hasn't spent the last two weeks firing off resumes.

I know this guy bleeds Tennessee Orange but I would hope that he takes another job.

I don't see him moving too far from his favorite fishing holes in Tennessee.

He could replace Weis. They already have an extensive wardrobe his size.

He could go to Syracuse, already has plenty of Orange.

Or clemson - it wouldn't be a bad hire for them and there's the whole Fulmer-Spurrier battle renewed.

I Syracuse got fulmer it would take three years for them to be big east champs SPEND THE MONEY SYRACUSE!!!!!!

Of course he will coach again (if he wants to), his winning percentage is .750, that makes him one of the best coaches alive, like him or not, you cannot argue with a .750 winning percentage. Personnal I cannot stand the guy, but...

Go to UW.

November 19, 2008  11:53 AM ET

who knows if he'll coach again, he has nothing to prove to anyone, he has a ridiculous winning percentage and a national title ring and a crapload of cash from his massive buyout. If I was Fulmer I'd just retire and enjoy life.

I hear Washington is hiring. Auburn may open up soon, but I doubt he's doing an intra-SEC change.

November 19, 2008  01:07 PM ET

Maybe he can get a job at a SCAC school. Then he can coach against his old buddy Mike Dubose.

Mr. Fulmer the weather is great in New Mexico and we have a great deal to offer with our natural resources. Fishing, boating etc.

Good Luck Coach Fulmer,

The VOLS school will miss you very soon after the they heal from shooting their self in the foot.

I'm telling you, Clemson is the square peg in the square hole here. Good facilities, good fan base. He has recruited the heck out of the area for the last 15yrs. And after Tommy "The Milkman" Bowden, Fulmer looks like Bryant.

The rivalry with SC would get even more intense. Great fit.

Don't forget about Kansas State... This is a program only needing a leader to get them back where they were not too long ago...

November 19, 2008  03:55 PM ET

Fulmer will probably take a couple years off.

November 19, 2008  04:23 PM ET

Fulmer will see several coaching oportunities I'm sure. And when he selects, it will be on his terms and not a rush to fill an ego thing, his or the schools. This is a class person who will want to be in a class program and most likely in the south. Beyond that, I'm confident that UT will live to regrete this short sightedness. (Future score...Fulmer 14, UT 0).
