Favre not committing to 2009

If you thought the afterglow of Thursday's 34-31 overtime victory over the Patriots might cause Brett Favre to start dreaming about playing again next year, think again. "I haven't even thought about it," Favre said when the prospect of playing in 2009 came up. "I have people - friends, family - who ask me all the time about next year. The answer I give them, which is the honest answer, is I really don't know. To be totally honest with you, I really don't care. What I care about is trying to beat Tennessee." When the Jets made the deal for Favre this summer it was understood that it might be a one-year marriage, and this offseason figures to contain plenty of drama surrounding Favre's future.

No surprise here. The guy can't commit to what he wants for breakfast.

Well if Favrett thinks they have any chance of making it to the bigFng game then he can dream on..... death and taxes.....and them there taxes gonna be coming.....

So Farve won't say whether he will/won't retire until mini camp starts? NEWSFLASH!

This guy is the biggest drama queen going.

When Favre was considering the Packers offer of cash, he mentioned that he would prefer it to include his unconditional release at the end of the 08/09 season. Apparently the Packers veto on the Jets trading Favre to any team in the NFC North only stands for this season. If the Vikings don't go for McNabb (if he is released by the Eagles), or for Warner (if the Cardinals don't resign him and he decides to keep playing), then look for something similar to the Packers/Jets deal before the draft. It wouldn't surprise me if Favres turnaround on joining the Jets was because they had a gentlemans/handshake agreement that he will be free after this season. The pull to put one over the Packers organisation will be too much to resist!

The Jets knew what they were getting themselves into when they traded for the guy. Don't be surprised when Brett Favre is playing for the Vikings next year.

I won't be surprised. I'll be friggin' ASTONISHED. I've never bought into the Favre to the Vikings scenario. To do what? Handoff to Adrian Peterson?? Throw to Bernard Berrian? This year should have shown the world that the Vikes are a lot more than a QB away from the title. And what are they going to trade to the Jets to get Favre? All those draft picks they already gave away to get Jared Allen?? You know, the second coming of Herschel Walker?? The sack king!! BS!
I'm sorry, I haven't had my coffee yet. I'll be better later.

Who does Brett Farve think he is? Hes showing a true lack of class and professionalism by leading these teams on and not giving them direct stances on ANYTHING....this is one guy who truly believes hes bigger than the sport.

November 20, 2008  08:13 AM ET

Mike Vick shows more commitment than Farve....by the way Farve is related to some dog fighters in Mississippi.
