Edge wants out of Arizona

Edgerrin James wants out of Arizona, but the Cardinals aren't ready to let him go just yet. James' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, asked the Cardinals two weeks ago to release his client, and the team refused. That request came in the days following the Cardinals' game against St. Louis on Nov. 2, a game in which James did not play a snap. In the Cardinals' past two games, James carried the ball three times for five yards. There are other teams in need of a running back, agent Drew Rosenhaus said, and James would rather join one of them this season rather than sit on the bench for the Cardinals. The Cardinals refused the request because the Cardinals still view James as a valuable member of the team, General Manager Rod Graves said.

Valuable members don't sit the bench.
Valuable members should be scoring TD and gain yards.

Sorry Edge.. theres not much rubber left on the tires. You had a good career, but you can't out run time. Where are you going to go if you get out of Arizona other than home?

He becomes really valuable when Hightower gets injured or becomes ineffective for whatever reason.

Partly true, but they've been giving JJ Arrington carries now as well.

Exactly. Why would they jeopardize their season potentially, just to make Edge happy? He's an insurance policy at this point, but the Cards may need that.

If Edge didn't want to be in this position, he should have been more productive and definitely shouldn't have coughed up critical fumbles that cost them games at Washington and at Carolina.

Making million to keep the bench warm, and complaining????

I agree with you 100 percent, we could be 2 wins better minus Edge coughing up the ball.

Maybe Seattle is in the market for another worn out or over-valued RB.

November 20, 2008  11:30 AM ET

They cannot release him. They would HAVE to pay him even more if they do..Unless he is willing to drop that part of the contract then he is staying. Igf he is serioujs about leaving, then he tells them keep the severance money. If he is not willing to do that, then he should just shut up...try being a team player and acting like winning is a good thing and all. Phony as that is with guys like him....

maybe he wants to play. We always stomp on players who say they'd rather be traded that warm the bench but shouldn't our players "want" to play?
