Royals to shop DeJesus

While a Royals official said the club isn't looking to deal outfielder David DeJesus after acquiring Coco Crisp from the Red Sox yesterday, baseball officials believe the Royals will shop the Rutgers and Brooklyn product who will be 29 next month. The Yankees like DeJesus and he would be an upgrade in center offensively and defensively over Brett Gardner and Melky Cabrera. The Royals were interested in Robinson Cano last July, but the Yankees believe he will rebound from a disappointing season.

This rumor is cornier than a turd after thanksgiving. DeJesus is much better than Robinson Can'O'Chopped Liver, at least he is a consistent player. Cano is riskier than a mole on John McCain's cheek. As a casual Royals fan (there are no die hard fans) I hope we get at least a pitching prospect out this deal if it is true.

I thought your existence was a rumor to begin with.

Good for you pal... At least you are man enough to admit it.

Quick take a picture so we can document it. The National Enquirer will pay big money...too late...

Jesus. We saw a Rangers fan last week and now this?!?! Jackpot.

I would love this guy playing center. if we could make this happen while simultaneously making sure i personally never have to see the smug faces of kennedy and cano, it would be the greatest christmas gift.

I'm not sure. When the sailors had been on the water for months sans any poon, they'd sometimes mistake me for a mermaid. I could count on my flippers the number of sailors I had to gore for getting fresh.

It is a shame they donlt just make candles like they used to. What a waste of good sailors

I think he would be a good addition for the Yankees, if Cabrera doesn't come around and the rookie doesn't make it, we can always have this third guy waiting around to step in to the ring.

"the rookie" if you that you mean Gardner, you cant possibly think that kid can contribute, can you? If we start him, we're in serious trouble.

November 20, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Oh no !! they are willing to part with Dejesus? I guess their chances of making the world series next year just got a little slimmer... May i ask ...who the **** cares ?

November 20, 2008  10:41 AM ET

the fans of the teams who will acquire dejesus; services, of course. they arent really any royals fan anyhow.

November 20, 2008  10:46 AM ET

Come on...suddenly the Royals are relevant? Signing Swisher helps at both 1B and OF, so there are plenty of outfielders already. Focus on pitching, pitching, and more pitching.

November 20, 2008  10:57 AM ET

And strengthen the bench. the Yankees can not afford to trade away what they would need to to get this guy.

I totally agree, Kennedy and Cano really don't care if they don't do well. Their nonchalant attitude can take a hike. I don't care if Cano is a .330 lifetime hitter after we trade him. Sign the O-Dog and call it a day. Give me Knoblach any day of the week, at least the guy had heart, played hard, except for that one boneheaded play in the '98 ALCS...arguing with blue instead of getting the ball (and not being able to throw to first). But, I would love DeJesus, or Nate McLouth (Pirates) in CF. Both can bat leadoff and can play a good CF.

Do you realize who this guy is ?
he's MEDIOCRE.

he's never played a full year and he adds NOTHING to the
mediocrity we already HAVE

And as far as Cano- smug - yeah-
but with Abreu gone & likely Melky-
I really think he'll 'mature'

November 20, 2008  08:58 PM ET

Big mistake getting rid of Cano , I Don't give a Damm how one feels, there is a tremendous upside here , & it will come with the new place

I love it. All these KC haters. I cant wait to see KC come to NY and leave winners. I wont be surprised when KC outplays the 200 Million Dollar Club with a bunch of young guys.
