If they can get past the first round, Frank Haith's 17th-ranked Miami Hurricanes could have a huge date with former Big East rival Connecticut on Sunday night at the Paradise Jam. Wednesday, though, Miami already managed to get a leg up on Jim Calhoun's Huskies, winning a heated recruiting battle with UConn and Pittsburgh for one of the nation's best high school shooting guards, New York City star Durand Scott. The 6-4, 187-pound senior at Manhattan Rice High School made his announcement on SNY Television and said he picked UM because it was the best fit.

Congrats to the Hurricanes but once again Norm Roberts lets another talented New York guard escape his grasp.

By the way I don't think that URL exists but I am not the most internet savvy. If someone wants to take the domain name, by all means it yours.

Anyway, as someone who loves the City of Miami and that beautiful UM Campus (I got family who are Miami alumns) I congratulate the kid on his choice but it hurts to see another top notch guy from the City turn down my alma mater (even though St. John's wasn't listed in his final schools).

I didn't realize Miami was ranked in BB. I don't follow it as much as football, but congrats to Frank for turning this program into a winning one.

I often wondered why Hawaii isn't the reigning champs in all sports.

Big East basketball is usually a solid conference. i am yet to be disappointed and I think UCONN is not going to let anyone down. Even though I am a KU fan, I think UCONN has a good chance to match up with UNC. I am saying this now...but as most college sports go, anything can happen and I am going to enjoy watching this upcoming season.

So I am watching the Pitt-Xavier game scratching my head...How in the hell has Pitt made it as far as they have in the tournament...I mean honestly, I'm not a basketball fan but they have looked horrible since the tourny has started. I do have to hope for them because they are a Pittsburgh(hometown)team. They just look real sloppy top me. I am not sure what the hype is about with this team...Someone clue me in. I wish them the best but I think I am gonna stick with football...Then again I could hope that the Pirates win the world series....Uhhhh yeah right...
