Former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel said Tuesday that he hasn't spoken with Raiders managing general partner Al Davis in recent days and that his name being linked to the Raiders coaching job is pure speculation. "No, we haven't had any conversations," Fassel said in an interview on SIRIUS NFL Radio, "and the thing is, some of the things got blown out of proportion." ESPN reported Sunday that Fassel sent a letter to Davis expressing his desire to replace current Raiders coach Tom Cable next season.

Davis wants to make sure you know how to grovel, before he thinks about making an offer.

Al Davis has stayed too long at the dance.

November 20, 2008  09:02 AM ET

I wonder does he have any children that he would let take over the Raiders......

November 20, 2008  09:31 AM ET

Al only has conversations with himself, 'cause no one else will listen

November 20, 2008  09:42 AM ET

I also deny speaking to the raiders..or about the raiders

November 20, 2008  12:19 PM ET

I can't believe there's a coach out there desperate enough to beg for the job

Never, ever disbelieve TMZ ... um ... I mean ESPN ...

Until Davis is gone the Raiders will be the epitome of suck. I don't care who the coach is.

I hear you on that, there is NOTHING worth saying about them till Davis dies or sells the franchise...what a great time to be a Raiders fan! :(

November 20, 2008  02:18 PM ET

I'm a Chiefs fan and things are bad but I'll take our situation over the RAIDERS right now just b/c Al Davis has definately lost it...

November 20, 2008  02:35 PM ET

Davis is a joke and runs things like it is the 70's again. The only way for the raiders to be decent again is to get rid of davis

November 20, 2008  02:55 PM ET

Favre stopped talkin'. Learn from that!!!!!

November 20, 2008  03:08 PM ET

I would deny any knowledge of the existence of the Oakland Raiders.

Al Davis is still alive?
