Flyers waiting for Shanahan's answer

The big question in Philadelphia these days -- besides "Wit Whiz or without?" -- is: When is Brendan Shanahan going to sign? The Flyers waived defenseman Lasse Kukkonen last week in what appeared to be a cap-clearing move to give them enough space to sign the veteran winger to a one-year deal worth $1-$1.5 million. But as of Sunday night, the Flyers hadn't heard back from Shanahan about accepting the deal. The (South Jersey) Courier-Post reported in its Flyers blog last night that it would make the most sense for Shanny to sign now, as the Flyers are in the midst of a four-day layoff, which would give him plenty of practice time to get acclaimated to their system.

"it would make the most sense"

What makes the most sense os for Philly to address defense and goaltending, not sign Shanny.

This will be a bad signing for Philly. As LGP said they need to worry about D-men and a goalie. They do not need any more fowards.

Plus Philly should be making cap clearing moves to put them in a better position financially, not to be able to afford Shanny. What good is it to have a maxed out roster cap wise and still be bad?

The flyers could try to unload a couple forwards like Lupol or Upshall or Hartnell or even Randy Jones to create cap space and go after Bouwmeester and Shanahan

You really have to wonder about the "concern" from T&Rs Favorite Post Boys the S-Brothers have for their teams or soon-to-be new teams. What the hell do they want? Parades? Gifts from Santa? An extra egg from The Bunny? What? WHAT?!

Man, I wouldnt unload any of those players! Although Upshall isnt a big producer, he hustles his arse off EVERY night! Lupol & Hartnell are pretty solid players and are still pretty young. And our defence is already hurting, so there's no point in getting rid of Jones, in order to sign Shanny.
