Why Bobcats have shot at McDyess

Is help on the way for the Bobcats? Larry Brown intimated as much. The veteran coach would love to add Antonio McDyess. A player so close to Brown in Detroit that Pistons observers jokingly called McDyess Brown's "second son," he was released recently by the Denver Nuggets. "I hear he's wanted to reach out to me," Brown said of McDyess. "Hopefully, I'll be able to talk to him. But the last thing I want to do is pressure him. (But) he would be a perfect fit for this team. I think it would be a great thing to have his presence in our locker room."

This rumor sure makes sense.... except for not really at all...

Wow. It will be really crazy if he does go to Charlotte. He turned down the Celtics for a ring chance and now he thinks he could do something w/ the Bobcats. The Bobcats are going to rely on an aging player who is ready to retire. What happened to staying in Detroit for family purpose? I don't know about this move for either side.

If he turned down a shot at a ring with Boston, or Detroit, to go to Charlotte then McDyess needs his head checked. I know he gave up a lot of money in his Denver buyout but to take a cash grab from the Bobcats, would be a horrible move.

Why is it that this story is a waste of typing!

indeed.

I looked up how much he's made in his career......
and by my rough estimate- it is close to 100 mil

- I would NEVER begrudge anyone for wanting more $
but at this point- wouldn't you give up a couple mil
to be on a team that at least could COMPETE ?

No shot, he'll go back to Detroit.

November 20, 2008  11:49 AM ET

huh! slow news day. Dice will go to 'cats if MJ signs him for a 6-yr 75 mil deal.
who knows, given some people's IQ in the charlotte area, might even happen!!

November 20, 2008  12:10 PM ET

Well this just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

November 20, 2008  01:46 PM ET

In the last few weeks I have been schocked ....so won't say this is str8 up bs
But being in Detroit and having a chance to see Dice play and hear him talk The biggest thing that he desires is a ring.....that with the fact that he has big loyalty with Joe Dumars...and I'm almost certain that the whole trade thing was premeditated for him to sign off on Denver and come back to Detroit makes this whole thing seem absurd.....However I will be much more at ease come Dec 7 to see him back in a Pistons uniform...
I mean he has got to be looking at the Pistons games and thinking about how him being back will give him another legit shot at a ring.....I'm also pretty certain Joe D. has sweetened the financial pot for him when the oppurtunity arrives....and lets not forget The Pistons signed Dice when a lot of teams were hesitant due to his injury history...I think that means a lot to Him.

I don't know why Detroit fans are terrified at the prospect of Dyes joining another team. If he meant much to them they wouldn't have TRADED him in thefirst place.

But who knows maybe McDyes believes money can't buy his familie's welfare that is why he is hesitant to join teams like Cleveland or Charlotte where he can make more money and also be a bigger part of the offense and defense.

November 20, 2008  08:06 PM ET

Yeah, right. He says no thank you to the Celtics, and then signs with Charlotte. Who wrote this?

November 20, 2008  09:50 PM ET

because they are a long shot, I mean hell if Lyle Lovette can marry Julia Roberts I guess anyone has a out side chance.

Not enough news in the NBA? He is going back to the D. He would have signed somewhere else already.
