Cowboys taking time with Pacman's return

Don't expect Adam Jones to go right back into the starting lineup when he returns against Pittsburgh on Dec. 7. The Cowboys' defensive coaches aren't sure what kind of shape Jones will be in when he returns to practice Monday. They must weigh how Jones can help the secondary and how he could affect team chemistry. Its unlikely Jones can step in after a month in alcohol rehabilitation and be the same player he was in September and early October. When Jones was suspended, he had a team-high 11 pass breakups. Jones is still the only player in double-digits in that category.

He better come back as a shut down corner like Champ Bailey or his time will be up.

He'll be fine. Rotate him in slowly and by the time the playoffs come, if they're in, he'll be back to rare form...

I applaud Goodell for re-instating him. Yeah he's had some problems, but those are no reason to not let him play a game he's good at anymore. Goodell sucks...

You almost made it to first on this one Bloodclott.....

He needs to play football and play it really well, and he needs to stay away from clubs, booze and whatever else he can get into trouble with!

If youre expecting a "Champ Bailey" type CB in Adam Jones then you are living in a dream world. Adam couldnt hold Champs jock.

Why is he even allowed to come back? Is this the NFL's great new policy?

November 21, 2008  09:41 AM ET

Takes a while for one of those ankle moniter to be modified to be worn in games as well as off the feild.

HA! That's like waiving a crack pipe in front of crack heads nose....

P.S. NICE PIC!!

They should put him back in right away! I'm positive Pacman has learned his lesson and turned his life around. He'll never get in trouble again and he'll be a positive influence in the locker room. Well done Mr. Goodell. I'm glad you were able to see past this young man's actual actions and see the truth of him, that he's just a misunderstood young person surrounded by bad influences. Thankfully, there are no bad influences in the Cowboys' organization.

November 21, 2008  11:54 AM ET

I never thought I'd hear Call of Duty 4 Jones name, and Champ Bailey's in the same sentence. I almost spit out my coffee.

November 21, 2008  12:53 PM ET

You need some thunder backs aka Brandon jacobs

November 21, 2008  01:03 PM ET

Time, you mean like 5-10 years!!

November 21, 2008  01:47 PM ET

He's done.

perfect comment!

Another fine example of thugs taking over the NFL - move over NBA

November 21, 2008  04:37 PM ET

Can him.... he will be on the "blotter" again before the playoffs and it remains to be seen if the cowboys make the playoffs. Next "must win" is SF, and I am sure Wade let the "Boys" live the dream this week rather than whipping them into shape after the BIG win over the arch-enemy Redskins. No living in the past, shape up--intensity

Again we see Jerry Jones not having the integrity or dignity to protect whatever is left to the shine on the star of the Cowboy helmet. Jones does not know the meaning of the words. Surrounding himself with the likes of some of those players he chooses to adopt. Will he ever and I mean ever know what class Lombardi and Landry stood with.. I doubt very much..

I thought we had something in Goodell. He turned out to be nothing more than a puppet. I wonder what Jerry Jones is putting under Goodell's Christmas tree this year. I'll bet Goodell is driving in a new Jag after christmas..Goodell, football fans all over the world learned alot about you this past week, and yes, we are all sad that you weren't what we hoped you'd be. The NFL is at a stage where its losing its image and you have done nothing to preserve what others have built and lets not forget the thoughts that have been instilled in our youths, that you can play in the NFL and be a criminal..not toe the line and yes....the pardons in the league are endless

Dallas may get upset this weekend by the 49ers. I suspect the Cowboys may have hangovers from the Pacman Jones re-instatement party..put on by who himself...Jerry Jones......Go Niners
