The day after the annoucement that #78 Furniture Row Racing was running a partial schedule for 2009, [Team Owner] Barney Visser released [driver] Joe [Nemechek] from his ride. Visser said that the team may not even race at all for 2009 and how money was tight. So Nemechek is looking for a ride in 2009.

Yeah Joe and about 25 other drivers are in the same boat. I suspect there will be more before all is said and done with our economy going down the tubes.

I'm pretty sure that my job is secure, but just in case I'm stepping it up a notch.
Shynloco, Correct and this is across the board, no one is safe!

This seems to be a annual process for Joe....he will hook up somewhere. He is a genuinely nice guy from what I understand. Tough to spend you're Sundays driving borderline equipment isnt Joe?

Geez Jackman -- you have the nail all lined up again!!! SMACK -- right on the head..."Front Row Joe" will find a ride and hopefully it ain't a junk also-ran!

November 21, 2008  12:50 PM ET

Looks like some of the drivers are safe from Joe for now....he's a terminal 'back of the pack' driver.........

November 21, 2008  12:52 PM ET

Guys like Joe deserve the higher end rides that they keep bringing 12 year old kids or open-wheelers to drive.

In Furniture Row car's yeah... Jimmy and Chad would have a hard time getting that car to the front, even with a little help from NASCAR.

Joey Lagono reference maybe? He still has his blankie. Did you notice his drink cup was Dumbo?

jackman -- I did see a Binky in one of his photos!!

November 21, 2008  05:51 PM ET

Gentlemen; the binky in question was given to Jr. by step mommy. It is used on occasion for photo ops.

November 22, 2008  11:00 AM ET

Seymore, I'd like to smack that smile, right off your Avatar! LOL

November 22, 2008  01:21 PM ET

Nemechek is another driver whose day is done......he should retire gracefully and go away.

November 22, 2008  04:18 PM ET

Kind of like Mickey W. ?

At least Mickey owns his own cup team, it may not be much, but he owns it, more than can be said for front row Joe.

2008 Michael Waltrip Holdings L.L.C. Executive Management Structure
CEO and President: Michael Waltrip
Executive Vice President: Calvin Wells III
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer: Larry Johns
Vice President and General Manager: Ty Norris

Mickey owns what? He is a share holder! Take your side, but be sure not to over step you knowledge. LOL

November 22, 2008  06:10 PM ET

Just adding:

Robert Kauffman as an equal ownership partner in a newly formed company, Michael Waltrip Racing Holdings, LLC.

November 22, 2008  06:15 PM ET

Joe has as many wins as Mickey with many less starts, "Who needs to let it go".
I like Both of these drivers, and will pull for both, so let's not get into "let's take sides" if you don't mind.

November 22, 2008  07:20 PM ET

If Joe would retire, what would he do? He still has some years left in him to drive, albeit it probably will be in trucks or Nationwide.

November 22, 2008  08:11 PM ET

Float we don't have to take sides. You are busy arguing with yourself. You do it for us.

Of all the guys looking for a ride, Joe would not be the first one that I would hope to get one. There are better drivers waiting and wanting.
