Dodgers making run at Sabathia

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti, who has quite a puzzle on his hands with two or three infield openings, a leftfield opening and at least one more opening in the starting rotation, said in a phone interview with SI.com that they are looking into superstar free agent pitcher CC Sabathia after recently removing their well-chronicled initial $45-million, two-year offer to Manny Ramirez."It's certainly something we're interested in, and we'll see where it goes,'' Colletti said about Sabathia. The Giants, Angels, Red Sox and Brewers are also believed to have interest in Sabathia, but the Dodgers -- who play in Sabathia's preferred California and preferred National League -- might be the best hope to steal Sabathia form the heavily favored Yankees in the CC Derby.

Just more B.S. gossip. They'd be better off doing whatever it takes to keep Manny!

Like before whoever gets CC better budget for the after game buffet

Jr, don't you read the papers? Hank has basically nothing to do with controlling the Yankees any more. It is official now. What has been true for the last year two years is factual now. Hal is the primary executive and rules the Yankees and has all final decisons on how the money is spent. The other blowhard shares the co-chairperson position in name only.

And how good is LaSalle? UConn only beat them by eight points last night. Two much sun and fun or are they actually good? I mean LaSalle not UConn. :)

no seriously....
not sure if they will make a large tex push anyway.

if cc doesn't come- they will probably go harder for burnett
(which I don't want) AND lowe (which I don't want)
or maybe revisit peavy and give up the farm

I would be shocked if they don't get at least one of the 4 pitchers

dodgers looking at CC, of course and why not. Looks like Manny has his eye on something else. $ 45 mil over two years is very very good money. What does he want? Egg in his beer?

November 22, 2008  01:08 PM ET

I say CC in THE X and Tex GETS blown away after everyone puts there offer in and the yanks Battleships everyone and to top that sign manny (wow how a blogger can dream) but hey you never know

Colletti is better at offering big contracts for declining players..... maybe he should wait and sign CC to his next contract.....

Joe, number 21 is a personal favorite..... perhaps in the current economy some are getting a clue that debt is dumb..... and yet the brains in Washington are trying to solve the problem by easing credit and lowering interest rates.... So, I guess #11 is involved here as well..... (#19 doesn't belong at all, jus sayin).....

okay: top 24 then.

November 22, 2008  01:48 PM ET

JFK Jr, Hank is no longer involved with the Yankees..or don't you know how to read?? If you knew how to read, you would know Hal is running the team.

Of course, Yankee hater Tom Verducci wants CC to go to LA to be with his bud, Joe Torre. Let's see what Jon Heyman has to say - Heyman has no agenda and just reports the facts.

I still say Dodgers will not spend that kind of money....and I want to see that offense WITHOUT Manny...Manny saved their season

November 22, 2008  02:07 PM ET

Yeah, Junior. Don't you know how to read?
