A person with knowledge of the situation said the Knicks have "a standing offer" with the Heat that would involve sending Stephon Marbury for forward Shawn Marion, who is in the final year of his contract that pays him $17.1 million this season. Marion was an all-star for Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix. But the Heat, who have a need at point guard, have declined.

I can see why miami would decline.....
BUT
Marions presence is holding Beasley's development back
sine they play the same position.

Not sure if maarbury is the best option-
but Marion does need to go & could help a team

Au contraire friend. Marion is by far the Heats best perimeter defender, and a consistent double-double. They are sitting Beasley down come crunchtime. Beasley needs to adjust to being a part of a team. He's not in Kansas anymore.

Maybe if the Knicks made up the difference in salary this would work. Unless the Heat are afraid of Steph's reputation as a cancer. It sounds win-win for both teams.

absolutely....
I don't disagree.

Beasley will be better than Maron we all know this but Beasley needs more touches.
The last 2 games Beasley had under 9 ppg in both of them lets hope against the pacers Beasley can deliver his 16+ points, 8 rbs, 3 assists a 3 pointer or 2 & a block.
Marion will likely be with the team until his contract expires because if Riley hasnt made a trade scenerio as yet i doubt he will any time this season.

Everyone is getting down on Stef; however, no one is looking at what management has done. First they tell him he has a clean slate. Then they tell him he is not going to play. Then they trade away 40 points per night and want him to play for 2 nights until the new group arrives. That sounds like using someone. Besides he has not been on the court all season in the new system. It is apparent Knicks management is retaliating for Stef being called on to testify against Thomas. So far I agree with Stef's stand.

Homie do you know what a contract is?

Marbury is too dumb to read between the lines. He was set up and they know his dumb **** will refuse to play.

Now they can suspend him for the rest of the season without pay! Getting rid of retardo while saving some dough... priceless!

Can they really suspend him for the rest of the season without pay?

yeah that's simple common sense. I pay you to play, you refuse to play. I refuse to you pay you.

November 22, 2008  11:20 AM ET

I can't believe the Knicks thought this would happen. Yeah, the heat trade their best rebounder and (maybe) their best defender for a player who is a gifted scorer but does not know team-play. Even when he plays, he expects the player to shoot immediately so he can rack up an assist. Thats how he's averaged 9 assist before...

I don't believe realistically they can suspend him for the season... never seen that happen before.

November 22, 2008  12:28 PM ET

This sounds nice but I can't see it.

Marbury for Marion????????

Marbury hasn't played and Marion is regarded as a top forward

November 22, 2008  01:10 PM ET

Just buy him out of his contract already!!!! Okay you will lose money, and he will likely sign with another team, but is the signing of Marbury to a team in the East really gonna prevent the Knicks from winning a championship?.. No.

Quoted for truth. Probably one of the main reasons that Marion isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

November 22, 2008  01:53 PM ET

ahahahaha what

This can't be a real offer. Miami would never make such an idiotic trade when they know NY has to buy out Marbury at some point.

No they don't. Because he will not let them. He wants his full contractual pay...Not going to happen and get released.

November 22, 2008  02:13 PM ET

Dont think thats a good trade for Miami. We need a facilitator not someone who would want the ball just as much as D Wade

November 22, 2008  02:15 PM ET

umm pretty sure he cant be suspended for the season w/o pay for not playing. Maybe a week. The Players union will not stand for it. The knicks should make a show of it however. Also, Marion for Marbury is a horrible trade for the Heat.
