Angels free agent hires Boras

Longtime Angels outfielder Garret Anderson recently hired agent Scott Boras, according to league sources. The Angels declined Anderson's $14 million option for 2009 and bought out his contract for $3 million. Anderson had been one of only a few players without an agent (Curt Schilling is another.)Anderson, who has played his entire 15-year career in Anaheim, is testing the market for the first time. The Angels haven't ruled out a return for G.A., who hit .293 with 15 home runs and 84 RBIs last season and has hit between .280 and .321 in every season with the Angels -- he's a career .296 hitter -- but they're currently focused on free-agent slugger Mark Teixeira, another Boras client.
