Bush limited in practice

Saints running back Reggie Bush returned to the practice field Saturday but was still limited two days before his team plays the Green Bay Packers, a sign that he could be in danger of missing his fourth straight game. Saints Coach Sean Payton said after Saturday's practice that he was optimistic about Bush's possible return, but Bush's practice time this week might have indicated otherwise, with Bush missing Friday's session and participating on a limited basis Thursday and Saturday.

2006 NFL Draft. Reggie Bush was highly acclaimed as a once-in-a-decade player. He came in 6-foot tall and 200lbs. No one mentioned injury prone?

For years leading up to the 2006 draft, every 200lb runningback immediately brought up durability questions. Most of those backs were shorter, stockier and ran with a lower center of gravity than Bush.

I still say move him to wide receiver, he's proven again and again that he can't take the brute pounding excepted of an NFL back. He's too lanky and breaks too few LOS tackles.

Good points.

In seven games this year the guy averages 3.4 yds a carry and 42 yds a game. He does catch some short passes, but in fact he is not a big producer on the field. No loss as a RB. Not really a big loss. A big name, but not a big time player this year.

I made a statement yesterday on the TO thread that you defended McNabb and, rightly so, you didn't do that at all. I meant to say "wouldn't you" defend McNabb being a Philly fan as I would defend Romo.

Ah... yeah typos suck.

You defend your team, I defend mine. You know how the rivalries work. It's nothing personal.

I don't think bush affect play too much - might even help players. Need to limit drugs and alcohol during practice. That could be problem.

Who's drinking alcohol during practice? Where are you getting your facts?

say what you want about the saints and their RB drafts, yet the saints always manage to have someone running the ball. bush & duece will continue to get it done, until someone else gets it done for the saints.

If Reggie is small as a running back, what would he be as a Receiver?

Perfect size.

Inactive due to injury.

Wasted. There are more options for involving him from the backfield.

Kevin Faulk has been successful for years as mainly a receiving RB. Do not discount Reggie Bush as a blocker or the route variety available to RB as opposed to WR. His main advantage is sneaking out of the backfield and catching a pass with no one on him. If he were a normal WR he'd be blanketed every game.

All of which result in injury. Have we learned nothing... let's just ignore history, what good could it do.

New Orleans Saints still killed the Packers without Reggie Bush.

November 26, 2008  11:51 AM ET

The Packers just didn't come out and play football. I think they were too busy celebrating their stomping of the Bears the week before.

Please make clear to me how having more options for plays translates into more injuries. Doesn't mean Reggie's going to be getting any more touches or looks. The Saints still have a stable of offensive threats aside from Bush.

Aside from that, injuries = reality. Deal with it.
