08:48 AM ET 11.23 | Nineteen months. That is how long you can expect to hear speculation about Steve Nash. winding up with the New York Knicks. Nash already had an off-season home in New York, participated in Manhattan soccer leagues and has a love for a city that can foster his filmmaking and satisfy his cultural interests. Then Mike D'Antoni, and the system that fit Nash, went to New York, leaving him grappling for a way to thrive with a new coach and in a new offense. The latest fuel for the speculation came Friday, when the Knicks made two trades that cleared $27 million in salaries for 2010 free agency. It's not difficult to see that the Knicks could court several high-profile players, including Nash, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Dirk Nowitzki and Joe Johnson.

They know Nash is going to be 36 years old in 19 months when they wrote this article right? But whatever, no matter what players D'Antoni gets in 2010, if all he does not fix his system and play on both ends of the floor. The Knicks will not win anything. And btw, you know Nash cannot play defense at all right? Thanks

Lebron, Nowitzki and Bosh up front, Nash and Wade in the backcourt, maybe trade for Kobe and use him as a sparkplug off the bench...........people, meet the 2010 New York Knicks!

Now you got David Stern thinking on how to change the rules to make that happen.
If the Knicks get a taker for Eddy they can give max contracts to three superstars with no strings aattached. By that I mean they wouldn't need a trade partner to make that happen.
And don't forget the Celtics will be old and gray by then. The plot thickens!

Get rid of Curry and Marbury for expiring contracts.. sign Bosh for paint scoring, LeBron for, well LeBron for being his usual greatest player in the league self and Nash to distribute, mixed with some good, reliable role players and your onto a winner!

It appears that the free agent market, and the 2011 season is all Knick fans have to look forward to. I guess we'll hear these stories for a couple more years. What are they going to do when they land none of the above?

Nash is NOT coming here as a big money FA....
a trade this or next year - that's possible-
but NO WAY the knicks will give nash any major $$
to come in at that age when his skills ALREADY are starting
to show a drop off fom his MVP years.
now- they might sign him - if he wanted- to a SMALLER deal
-say vet minimum- but no way to any big $$

NASH? I would actually say ok. If the Knicks could somehow get him now, he could improve this already talented team to the next level.

I can't see Nash going to NYC to finish his career, not unless the Knicks dreams of luring every free agent in 2010 comes true.

This is absolutely crazy. Nash is not going to the Knicks, he be too old by then to run a team.

The free agent market in 2010 will be like high stakes poker for players and teams a lot to lose, but so much more to gain. I believe most of the high profile players, that are talked about (James, Wade, Bosh, Stoudemire...) will opt out, because their teams will undergo serious changes that summer. And if they opt out they have the chance to leave for another team, if they don't agree with the direction their team is going. The Knicks will get the chance to put together a team of a couple of superstars, some roleplayers and a few veterans looking for a title before they retire. Or they will end up with nothing but the scraps nobody else wants.

The Knicks need big scorers to be a great team again. They made room for LeBron James by trading away their highest paid players. If they have scorers, their defense will be good enough to keep their 30 point leads if they get the platers they need to get to the playoffs. They need the missing piece that takes them to the postseason and they win. They are looking for LeBron and another possible free agent in 2010 like Chris Bosh or Amare Stoudemire. They have a coach who is known for his offensive skills and he has coached Steve Nash and was responsible for the best offense in the Suns in the past couple of seasons. His name is Mike D'Antoni and he id coach of the New York Knicks. He took the same players as last years Knicks and turned them from the lowest scoring team to the highest scoring team. Madison Square Garden will be hosting the playoffs in two years and a dynasty will be born in New York. Ever since Patrick Ewing left, the Knicks have not been doing a good job in the Isiah Thomas era and Donnie Walsh went out and hired him ot improve the offense just like he improved the offense of the struggling Suns and got them to the playoffs. New York will be in the playoffs soon.

2010 will be very interesting....those are big names becoming FAs.....
Nash to NY? Why not! The D'Antoni's system is familiar to him and as a short term fix....its a marriage made in heaven. As long as the Knicks show some gradualy improvement, the Knick's fan will be content.
Nash has two good and productive years left. He can mentor a young PG.
