Nationals GM Jim Bowden has been very aggressive, acquiring Scott Olsen and Josh Willingham, and making a push for Mark Teixeira - and if that doesn't work out, Adam Dunn. A major league source indicated that Bowden has called numerous teams asking about the availability of their best hitters.

TILII, you're right. But the fact that the Nats are pursuing anybody is newsworthy.

Nats need just about everything, don't they?

Gee, you think they might need some pitching?

Gee, you think Scott Olsen knows how to pitch?

And while they're at it, they should also shop for new owners and a new stadium...one that ppl will actually show up at.

Considering their "ace" is Tim Redding, I would say they probably need a 1-5 starters, a new bullpen, and 4-5 new (good) position players. Add to that a new front office, coaching staff, and scouts. Hey, at least they have a new ballpark.

the addition of Willingham leaves them with an outfield of him, Kearns, and Milledge. That is a young outfield. Wheee! just thought I'd toss that out there. Didn't say it was a good outfield. One more note. Nobody will succeed with Adam Dunn on their team. He looks like a four hitter and I'm sure it seems fun to add that many home runs to your offense, but 200 strike outs a year is not worth it, things happen when you make contact with the baseball.

Your statement makes no sense. New owners? They were given a team with a depleted minor league system and no worthly stars on their major league roster. The city builds them a beautiful new ballpark (obviously, which you have not been to) and you suggest a new stadium?
Try thinking about you speak, next time.....

QUOTE(#6):

So, you think the answer to the Nationals' pitching problems is Scott Olsen? Fairy boy, you know nothing about baseball.

Scott Olsen is a much better pitcher than Tim Redding even though he my not be the answer for the Nats. Let's see Redding is 30 and right-handed, while Olsen is 24 and left-handed.
