Another Warrior wants out of Golden State

Al Harrington wasn't the only Warrior who wanted out of Golden State. Point guard Marcus Williams feels that way, too. Following two decent seasons in New Jersey, Williams was hoping for a fresh start and much more playing time after being dealt to the Warriors July 22 for a conditional first-round draft pick. With Monta Ellis out with an ankle injury and Baron Davis gone to the Clippers, Williams seemed in good position to get his wish. But through 11 games, he was scoreless with seven assists in 23 minutes and was behind undrafted rookies C.J. Watson and DeMarcus Nelson in the point guard rotation. Williams's agent, Bill Duffy, said he asked the Warriors to trade his client.

The Warriors stink I would want out too!

I don't understand how they define a "decent" season, Williams played 16 mins per game, had 6 ppg, and he is a career below .400 field goal % player. Both Nelson and Watson shoot higher % than that. Now, I do agree that the warriors have more than enough smalls on the roster, dealing 1 out won't be such a bad idea.

I never pay much attention to players whining about playing time. Want more playing time? Step your game up a notch. Improve your defense. Smart money says if you're on the bench, you're being outplayed. I doubt Anthony Morrow is having a problem.

I would want out of the Warriors too, run and gun basketball doesn't win championships as proved time and time again.. although Ellis and Crawford will be a nice backcourt.

November 23, 2008  11:18 AM ET

Williams is simply not an NBA starting point guard...PERIOD

Until he realizes this an gears up his game for a back-up
role...he'll not only never be happy- but he'll SHORTEN his career

November 23, 2008  11:32 AM ET

this is how you know it was ALL about the money for Baron Davis.

November 23, 2008  11:35 AM ET

Stop complaining and show you deserve playing time. If you can't outplay C.J. or Demarcus you deserve to sit.

November 23, 2008  11:37 AM ET

Crawford and Ellis will be nice. I think they will use Ellis or Crawford as a 6th man though so a real point guard can be on the court.

i consider myself a competent NBA fan and can name the rosters of the Lakers, Clipper, Celtics, basically top 15 teams in the league. But I've never even heard of this guy and he's getting an article why?

November 23, 2008  02:22 PM ET

Cyborg you answered your own question.

If he can't get playing time on a team that loses two point guards, it's not because the coach is mean. He's looked pretty bad when he was on the court, honestly. No surprises about the trade request but the real question his agent should be asking is "who wants him?"

November 23, 2008  03:44 PM ET

New Jersey will take him back for Hassell.

November 23, 2008  05:21 PM ET

sounds like the warriors want to keep the kid on ice so they don't have to give up a high draft pick, but i could be wrong

November 23, 2008  08:16 PM ET

He could be Jason Kidd back up again if they don't want him...the guy is just not good enought to be a starter.

November 23, 2008  10:36 PM ET

who is he, and why does anyone but him care....?

November 23, 2008  11:41 PM ET

Anyone have Gar Heard's phone number?

November 23, 2008  11:47 PM ET

This is because Don Nelson isn't a good coach. Yeah, I said it and here's why...

"The man can't develop talent to save his life. This is why rookies [and young players in general] don't get much action with him at the helm. He's especially hard on them and "NONE" thrive under his leadership. Folks can quote records all they want, but he still hasn't won a championship in spite of all his wins [and losses]. He, like Larry Brown always gets run out of town, especially after the players have had enough of him dumping on them, having them play out of position and being uncertain about what their respective roles are.

They should have dumped Nellie last year.
