According to a report from Yahoo! Japan, the Pittsburgh Pirates have signed a pair of pitchers from India, Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh. Pirates GM Neal Huntington would not confirm the report to MLB.com, but he did tell that site "We have seen the pitchers and are very interested in signing them." Patel and Singh, both 19, won a Million Dollar Arm contest last year that set out to find the hardest throwing players in the country. They worked out with USC pitching coach Tom House for six months, then auditioned in front of three dozen major league scouts in Tempe, Ariz., earlier this month, with Patel touching 90 mph and Singh hitting 84 on the radar gun.

Great. Another couole of jobs given to foreigners. But this is America and it is slowly being sold out to the wealthy people's desires. Most likely these dudes - DO NOT have what it takes....mentally.

Wow, they beat San Diego to the punch for their new "face of the franchise" guys after they rid of Hoffman, Peavy, and Greene.

Bond, I hear ya. But this country was sold out to wealthy people's desires long ago during the Regan/H.W. Bush years. As if they were preparing for the oncoming modern day depression which will be erasing Valentines Day this winter.

Nice to see the racial comments on here! Why don't you guys to just get a life! If they were Japanese you wouldn't be saying a single word, but just because they are from India, you need to hurl a couple of insults. Grow up!

way to go numnuts. maybe being sold out had more to do with constantly giving people handouts instead of making their lazy arses work or giving houses to idiots who had no business buying them but "hey, it gets them out of the urban areas".

In all your brilliant wisdom, please enlighten us all on how exactly this disaster rests with Reagan or Bush. People like you deserve the stale coffee you get on the unemployment lines right next to Cletus's Soup Kitchen.

seriously....your name is J Patel???? Talk about irony. There are like a billion J Patels in the Queens phonebook. Might as well call yourself I.M. Indian.

November 25, 2008  09:03 AM ET

Once again the Pirates show how big of a joke they truly are. What's next? A catcher from Azerbaijan??

November 25, 2008  09:04 AM ET

Anyone think their team is worse now???

November 25, 2008  09:12 AM ET

These guys have never played baseball, they've never been in a game, and barely on a field for some hack "contest". The only thing they showed off was that they can throw a ball relatively fast.

It doesn't matter that they are Indian. They are in NO sense "baseball players" or "pitchers". True baseball player live, eat, sleep and breathe baseball. They've been playing their whole lives, in backyards and alleys and dusty streets and school fields.

This is truly a new low for the Pirates organization.

Kinda sorta like 85% of the Atlanta population isnt really southern? Do you mean like that?

November 25, 2008  09:15 AM ET

Might as well have a contest to see who can kick things the hardest and then put them on a world cup team...

Nope. You don't sign a contract to be southern.

Do you have to sign a contract to be an **** from New York?

No not at all. Its just that its about time you sheet-wearing, knuckle dragging carny's get your act together and realize Atlanta is about as southern-heritage rich as these guys are baseball players. Outside of the geography, there's nothing southern about it. They should change the name to South New York

Well said.

Try being a, ahem...fan of the Pirates.

The Pirates have a awesome stadium, their TRYING to fill it with a joke like this. Shame on them for disgracing the game of baseball like that. Why not try to pick up someone that has at least played an entire game of baseball like Oliver Perez or Carl Pavano. These guys are good enough to be the ace of the Pirates rotation.

Well, at least know the citizens of Pittsburgh can't be accused of being racist.

If that's the case, then sorry to say, the most baseball players today are not "true" baseball players.
