Rangers leading race for Japanese pitcher
The Rangers have reportedly made a competitive bid to land 22-year-old Japanese right-hander Junichi Tazawa. Hideaki Okubo, manager of Tazawa's Nippon Oil team, told the Kyodo News the Rangers made the most attractive financial offer for Tazawa. Tazawa is trying to skip the Japanese major leagues entirely by going from the industrial league to American baseball. He has reportedly received offers from the Rangers, Atlanta, Boston and Seattle.

Old news now. Latest rumors say Tazawa will sign with the Red Sox because he can earn the money without having to worry about starting for them anytime soon. He calls it "player development". Really, it is a money-hungry, non-competitive kid trying to make a buck off mediocre talent and the Japanese reputation for good players. I hope the Red Sox do get him. He has "DUD" written all over him.

yeah, unless you're the Nolan Ryan/Satchel Paige of Japanese baseball, than you shouldn't be the first to jump ship without playing in your home country.... especially if there are reports that your fastball barely touches 90 mph.... bad form
