Free-agent right-hander A.J. Burnett has narrowed his primary focus to roughly a half-dozen teams, and the Orioles remain in the mix. Burnett's agent, Darek Braunecker, said he had a "real nice conversation" with Orioles president Andy MacPhail on Friday and that his client, who makes his offseason home in Monkton, is genuinely interested in playing here.

Hot snot...I'm first for once.

I have one question for Mr. Burnett....if you are looking at good teams such as the Yankees or Red Sox or Phillies, why on earth would you even consider the O's? It can't be anything other than money. You'd be better off staying put in Toronto.

How many guys actually sign with a team just because they're contenders? None of 'em, it's all about the money. This is a good move for the O's though; they need to spend their money on a couple of starters, not on a first baseman.

I can only see Toronto, Baltimore, or Washington to offer 5 years. These teams need a front line starter, and to roll the dice and try to win big this off-season.

The Yanks need to take the CC offer off the table and focus on Burnett.

The yanks might not get anyone who knows but i think first to second week of december the hotstove might actually fire it up.. for The O's hey if he signs he signs (i so wrote that in the russians voice in rocky 4 when apollo gets creamed by steroid freak IF HE DIES HE DIES lol wow)

Burnett sucks. He has a career losing record.

I wouldn't quite say Burnett sucks. Let's just say if he is the cream of the crop of this offseason major league baseball is hurting...BAD!

im from baltimore and of course i root for the o's but i dont think this guys the answer. he has the best stuff in the a.l. but he really hasnt put it all together yet. And saying that if he signed with baltimore would be because of the money thats not right. we all now the highest bidder is always the yanks or red sox. when i think of aj burnnet i think of a beautifull paint glass window. its nice to look at but then comes a baseball flying right at it. crash!

I dont mind if someone says burnett sucks but burnett does not have a negative record... His current wins to loss toll is 87-76, i believe thats above average ;p
