Dallas, Detroit, KC may chase Cowher

With the Cleveland Browns struggling and the rumors that head coach Romeo Crennel will be fired at the end of the season, Bill Cowher already is on the radar screen. But blips likely will be sounding in other cities, too, according to the Sporting News. Such as Kansas City, where coach Herm Edwards, a supposed defensive guru, gave up 54 points to a Bills team that previously couldn't find the end zone with a map, a compass and a telescope. Or Detroit. Or even Dallas, if the Cowboys encounter difficulty when their schedule stiffens in December. Or maybe even Philadelphia, if owner Jeffrey Lurie decides that he's seen enough from the power structure that has delivered periodic success and, currently, mediocrity.

Go to KC or Det.....Dallas owner will be all up in your meetings...All up in the locker rooms....YOU DONT NEED THAT.....Det has nothing but UP....they cant drop any farther.....KC will give you the time to build the team

KC suprises me because it seems the have some players there. I wonder if Herb and the GM have a clue.

I don't think he'll like Dallas because Jerry Jones will be walking by his side during the games. Bill would rather run the team.

why would bill, who can have almost any job in the nfl, go to one of the worst run franchises. sorry detroit, don't even dare to dream. bill won't be accepting offers with oakland, arizona, detroit, or cincy. ever.

as for dallas, its an interesting idea. Would Jerry agree to stay out of Bill's way? Jerry managed to land the Tuna. so its possible for Jerry to agree to Bill's terms to get the deal done.

KC, its a solid organization in the past. just lost its way with the new gm & coach. perhaps Bill could help KC, if the deal was sweet enough.

the good money bet, still says Bill ends up on a SE team not far from home.

As a Rams fan I'm begging them to get in on the pursuit of Bill Cowher... Begging.

Born near pittsburg, played in cleveland..Has a history there...The Browns are the loogical front runner for him IF he comes back next year. They have some talent and he knows the division..

If there was ever a coach worth firing Reid for...Cowher is it. His style fits in Philly, and its a franchise with owners who stay out of the way.

I doubt he comes back to coach. Maybe a GM. But he will not be in the BIG D

I agree. Dallas would be a place many great coaches would like to coach IF Jones will agree to stay out of the decision making. If he wants to root on the sidelines then fine but he won't get a great coach like Jimmy Johnson again unless he agrees to stay out of the way.

Can't see Cowher putting up with Jones in Dallas - he will have too many other suitors willing to give the world to get him - and again he wil;l only be as good as the players he's given

November 25, 2008  10:20 AM ET

Thought he wanted to stay near his family.....so Detroit, Cleveland and KC would be out of the question.

November 25, 2008  10:21 AM ET

Cowher has to much class to coach for Jerry Jones. Parcells found out the hard way and then made a quick exit. Cowher will not compromise his integrity for a guy like Jones, it will be KC or Detroit...

November 25, 2008  10:46 AM ET

With the kind of freedom he would have Detroit would be a logical choice.

November 25, 2008  10:47 AM ET

Dallas really? What about JG? Cower would be an asset to any organization. I say Clevland or KC. Though I still think Herm Edwards is a quality coach.

November 25, 2008  10:58 AM ET

The last thing I want to see in Dallas is an over rated coach.

November 25, 2008  11:35 AM ET

no playoff for Dallas this year then bring him in!!!!

November 25, 2008  11:46 AM ET

jerry jones is a micro-manager
detroit is detroit
so i guess KC would be a good fit

November 25, 2008  12:44 PM ET

I think Cowher has the moxie so desperately needed to get players in dallas to play to their potential. Presently it sickens me as a fan to see the same mistakes committed every game due to a lack of discipline and focus. Besides, isn't it apparent that the Jerry 'n Wade puppet show is not working? We need a "real" coach in Big D!!! Please Santa, bring us Bill Cowher for Christmas.

November 25, 2008  12:55 PM ET

Let's see: Live in the Carolinas and have a cushy TV job or move to some crappy city with an even crappier football tradition? Hmmm, tough decision. KC is about the only job the only job I see him being interested in. I wonder if they will be willing to pony up the $$$$?

Wasn't the Dallas job promised to Jason Garrett, if he turned down the Dolphins job to stay in D?
