Four teams chasing Ibanez
Raul Ibanez appears to be a popular player this free-agent season. While the Mets prefer to find a righthanded bat, they love Ibanez. The Cubs also are interested, and Ken Davidoff of Newsday added the Dodgers and Phillies as two more potential big-market suitors. Ibanez hit .293 with 23 home runs and 110 RBIs for the Mariners in 2008, and one executive with an interested team said, admiringly, "He's a late bloomer.'' At 36, he may have his biggest payday yet.

Other than Ichiro, Raul is the only position player that showed up and earned a paycheck this past season. He is a huge fan fav here in Seattle...I would hate to see him go but its the only chance he has of winning....he is on the back end of his career. He put up some good stats the last couple of years with no one hitting in front or behind him...he will do good on a team that is built to win now. He would have better career numbers if he played on better teams than the M's and KC. If he could get on a team that gets national exposure he will get a lot of peoples attention....GOOD LUCK Raul.

And Ibanez is from NYC. Could he want to finish his career near family? And I hear the ball carries to rightfield in the new ballpark.
