Andy Pettitte has talked to LA Dodgers manager Joe Torre about potentially joining the ex-Yankee manager out on the left coast, according to a report on FoxSports.com. Ken Rosenthal writes that Pettitte has a history of changing teams when he doesn't feel wanted.

I thought it was Yankees or nothing. Just call this guy Cybil.

November 26, 2008  08:10 AM ET

because they have failed to make him an offer again?

November 26, 2008  08:12 AM ET

I think he doesn't feel wanted because of the way the market is being played out or could be the pay cut but your right I thought ANDY might want to open a new stadium but hey if L.A. wants him i dont see him not fitting in,he did hit when he was on the astro's

November 26, 2008  08:12 AM ET

am i mistaken or did he retire? I know Mussina did.

November 26, 2008  08:14 AM ET

I personally don't blame him...He has to take care of Andy. Sure I'd like to see him back on the mound in NY but if they want to drag their feet until the last day....so be it.

Andy had a fantastic career with us....
bottom line is that he was basically ineffective the whole
2nd half of the season.....so why would we 'rush' into an offer
for him- he's a #4 or 5 starter at this point in his career
if he stays in the AL. In the NL he COULD be a #3 maybe #2
and actually WIN- if LA wants to give him an offer- fine
if he wants to shop his services around - fine

November 26, 2008  08:42 AM ET

because they need a 4-5 starter...

Agree. You do not make him a priority. Not anymore. Let some other team set the market price on the guy then decide if you want to match or exceed it. He is a number four starter at the end of a fine career.

The Dodgers get the best end of the deal when they swap Lowe for Pettitte.

More off season speculation..the plot thickens.

I wouldn't blame him. This is the second time the Yankees have left his willie in the wind. Once a victim, twice a volunteer.

November 26, 2008  08:58 AM ET

He needs to 'roid up again so he can play.

The Yanks have publicly stated that they are targeting three pitching free agents and could potentially sign all three. Where does that leave an old lefty? Battling Kennedy to be the number 6 guy? A lefty with a good track record will be courted anywhere, see Jesse Orosco at age 46.

Pettite went and had dinner with his long-time buddy and nursemaid Joe T, and it being the off-season, let's pick up on that and write a story. Big deal. He would clearly be just a number 5, but hell, Old Andy Pettite as a No. 5 is still pretty good. Who is YOUR #5 right now?

November 26, 2008  09:22 AM ET

****. If CC burns the Yanks and Pettitte goes to the Dodgers (a great move for him, I think), the Yanks are screwed.

November 26, 2008  09:26 AM ET

Andy just isn't feeling the love right now it seems. Yanks probably have told him they need to wait to see who they sign before they can decide if they can bring him back. It sucks but it is business.

After the Yankees stuck with him and supported him while admitting to PED's, he best stay there and pay them back, I also thought that is was the Yankees or nothing with him, he better get his head screwed on and do the right thing

I wonder if this is a sign that Clemens is going to resurface in LA for the Dodgers and that is why Andy might be going there as well.

It all honesty, Pettitte wasn't very good down the stretch last year. I say if he wants to go to the NL, let him. As people have said, he's maybe a 4th or 5th starter in the AL East, but he'd be a #2 on the Dodgers.
