USC changing tailback rotation

USC tailbacks might have finally got what they wished for, or at least something closer to it. Coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian said Tuesday that they were happy, for now, with a philosophy that allows the tailbacks to play entire series rather than alternating every play or two. Several tailbacks complained earlier in the season -- and many fans on Internet message boards have voiced their displeasure throughout -- about the tailback rotation and distribution of carries.

After watching the tapes of Syracuse backs running through and over ND they have to be salivating..

Yeah, I think we are going to see some of those running backs piling up some stats this Saturday.

The Vegas line is down to USC -29....Opened at -33. ...If it is ugly enough , maybe they will try to find a way to get rid of him...ND fans should be hoping for a good 70 - 3 score. The worst thing that could happen to them is to think there is hope..

SC needs the style points so 70-3, could damn well happen if things play out that way.

Pete isn't changing anything based on the Internet. Kids compete every week for their positions. Pete is the kind of coach who will listen to his players to get the best results.
Could be a wet field, hope the new deainage system works.
This game is my favorite to attend (lately). ND fans are vocal, loud, sometimes rude....but very, very quiet at game end. I hope to hear the silence this Saturday, once again.

Finally, Sarkisian has come to the realization that he's at Tailback U, rather than BYU.

It's going to be fun watching every RB who gets action... To get 7 yards a carry... My guess is... They will get somewhere in the ballpark... Of 250 on the ground this week

This might be a game for about 15 seconds then im going to bed

If anybody believes this game will determine Charlie Weis' future, then they should just get it over with and fire him for Thanksgiving. The fat lady (or coach) has sung.

Unfortunately, Pete Carroll is such a classy and compassionate coach that he doesn't run the score up on hapless victims. This extreme class deprives Trojan fans of the triple digit blow-out victory they rightfully deserve to see. Instead we're stuck with probably a 56-0 score (at halftime) and Pete will put in the pop warner team that was scheduled to be the halftime entertainment.

I love Pop Warner.

November 26, 2008  06:44 PM ET

Charlie Weis loves Pop Tarts.

Is anyone really dumb enough to believe that Carroll changed his tailback rotation because people on the internet were complaining? I doubt he even knows what's on the 'net unless some 20 year old 'SC coed whispers it in his ear.

November 26, 2008  09:33 PM ET

I bet Pete can coach both USC and ND same time and keep both programs in top 10.

November 26, 2008  09:45 PM ET

He might be able to, since no one is coaching ND at the moment.

sandy i dont think the ncaa will allow my eligibility to extend to this season - therefore i won't be playing in the second half...

one thing though not to forget in all the blowout predictions ( as much as i'd love one) - these teams hate each other - sometimes that screws up blowouts.

Texas Maverick, that is funny as hell

"pop tarts" Good one.

I just hope that the day is soon coming when we won't have to see pictures of the "BIG ONE" every fricken day.
