Affliction considering Barnett-Rogers bout

Currently without an opponent for the Jan. 24 "Affliction: Day of Reckoning" event, heavyweight Josh Barnett (23-5) could end up fighting undefeated EliteXC prospect Brett Rogers (8-0). The potential bout was first reported by Sam Caplan of fiveouncesofpain.com, and a source close to Rogers today confirmed Affliction's interest when contacted by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). Although many EliteXC fighters are stuck in a state of limbo following the organization's near-demise, Rogers is signed to a non-exclusive deal and would likely be granted permission to fight for Affliction.

Nothing against Rogers, he is still developing as a fighter, but I would like to see Barnett fight someone at his level, who maybe has had as much experience as him. Who that would be, I don't know, but this seems like a mismatch, especially in terms of grappling.

8-0 is better then Brocks 2-1 record and look at him holding the belt....
Different companies I guess

Very different talent levels and pedigrees as well. Rogers was fighting cans in EXC, Lesnar fought top contenders and former champions. Rogers might turn into a great fighter someday, but he is VERY far from polished, and he may need to skip a few meals.

Loki, i agree with you except on your Gonzaga's comment, that guy is a top contender right there i still think he will be the UFC champ, im not sure how his fight with Couture would have ended but im sure that if Couture hadnt broken his nose with that unintentional head butt the outcome woud have been different, the guy could breath trough his nose and he was swalloing all that blood after that takedown. I would love to c that rematch. Kongo is a bum

UFC heavyweight division is becoming better but for a while there, the contenders sucked... Japan has great fighters, UFC is interested tho'
