Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff plans to continue working to whittle down the team's potentially large free agent class. The team signed wide receiver Michael Jenkins and defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux to four- and five-year contract extensions on Tuesday. The Falcons have 11 more players, including linebacker Michael Boley, cornerback Domonique Foxworth, defensive end Chauncey Davis and punter Michael Koenen, who can become unrestricted free agents after the season. The team is currently in talks with several of the players and might have more contract extensions before the end of the season.

It'll be interesting to see where Dimitroff will take this team after this season. There will be interest from free agents you'd think. Another good draft like last year and *poof* I think Atlanta is force from the NFC South.

There's just something wrong with that headline. Falcons and lock up makes me think Mike Vick not free agents.

Wake up. Atlanta is a force from the NFC South right now. Coach of the year, hands down, goes to their guy.

Mike Smith coach of the year? Tony Sparano should have a say in that. He's doing more with less. At this time last year, Miami was 0-11.

November 28, 2008  10:57 AM ET

Sparano won't get it cause Parcells is practically the coach there.

They have the money now. A good idea to keep all you can when you can.

November 28, 2008  11:14 AM ET

I think they are definetly on the right track and have been since the Vick era has passed.

I was one of those few who said Ryan was the right way to go in the last draft. A lot of people on here did not think so. I wonder what they think now. After all that Blank went through last year, it is good to see him catch a break. They made all the right moves. Cleaned out some real trash in the locker room and drafted well.

You mean Bill Parcells? He was the architect of the Dolphins, not Sparano.

If you have seen one Lion's game you have seen them all. Let them play on TG just only just air it in Detroit and let the rest of the country watch a competitive football game.

I saw Matt Ryan absolutely destroy Georgia Tech's secondary last year. I knew he would be amazing for the Falcons to get, but I never thought he would make such a huge impact this fast. He more than makes up for us trading Favre to Green Bay.

Amen. I thought that mess would take 3-5 years to clean up and Dimitroff & Smith did it in one. I hadn't seen Ryan play so I wasn't openly skeptical although I think it's generally unwise to expect ANY rookie QB to be a savior. And it IS good to see Blank's faith rewarded for a change plus the poor fans down there need something to cheer about.

Its about time the Falcons are playing like a TEAM

agreed. I watched Matt Ryan and with what little he had to work with for offensive weapons I knew he was really good. When Blank hired Dimtroff(sp?) I knew he would make the right choice and draft a franchise QB in Matt Ryan.

Let's be honest.... 95% of Falcons fans thought Dorsey was the right pick and Ryan was a mistake.... now we know why we suck in Fantasy Football..... it's not even close as to who has made the most impact on their teams....

Parcells hired Sparano. He doesn't call the plays.
