O's-Cubs revisit Pie deal

The Orioles have revisited trade talks with the Cubs about outfielder Felix Pie, according to industry sources, and could end up as the third team in a three-way deal that would send marquee right-hander Jake Peavy from the San Diego Padres to Chicago. Pie, once considered one of the best young prospects in the game, was an Orioles target at this time last year when the two teams discussed a trade involving two-time All-Star second baseman Brian Roberts. Orioles president Andy MacPhail said yesterday that a deal is not imminent but acknowledged that Pie is the kind of player the Orioles are pursuing to broaden the club's position depth.

In his defense, Corey Patterson had a pretty good year his first year with the Orioles.

Pie for roberts? what did the cubs get for patterson? left handed bat with power? Kosuke Fukudome is not real scary. 10 hr 58 rbi's. what about adam dunn? he'll hit 40 hr and 100 rbi's. he'll scored close to 100 runs with the reds and they are a really bad team. he may hit .250 at best but his on base percentage is .381 and his slugging is over .500. dunn in wrigley? wrecking shop!

They did not get too much 2 minor leaguers if I remember correctly, they never amounted to much, but then again Patterson fizzled real quick too. Fukudome's bat really did fade in the second half, but his glove was excellent, though Dunn would be nice, Soriano gets enough K's we do not need another bat like that if his defense stinks.

hey cubsfanil... don't you think dunn's on base percentage would increase runs scored per game with Lee and ramirez hitting behind him? plus the runs dunn will knock in. breaks up the line up in the late inning. they can't just bring in a right hand relief to pitch to alfonso, ramiez, lee, delarosa, ect...

November 30, 2008  04:30 PM ET

how bout if you trade prospects to the orioles, and the orioles ship brian roberts and cash to the padres so peavy can be sent to us..all an even trade....great trade in fact...

November 30, 2008  04:30 PM ET

of course the padres want some pitching so im sure the orioles have that as well

I think he would be great in Wrigley, I just do not know if the Cubs would want avg or below avg defense on both sides of the outfield, but I have to agree with you, alot of runs would be created

There was a pitcher mentioned, but for the life of me I cannot remember his name, but as usual it is all rumor and all up in the air until something is in print stating otherwise

Why is Pineilla Saying the Cubs are all set for starting pitchers, if this trade keeps popping up? Peavy would be an asset to any rotation, but does have injury issues.

who knows why, Peavy would be a geat replacement for Marquis and would make a strong rotation even stronger, maybe Lou is fishing to much and is out of the loop?????

Towers seems to be pushing very hard for a trade with the Cubs, as much as he is looking for the 3rd team to get the last piece of the puzzle
