Browns QB Anderson heard jeers after injury

In what could be an unceremonious ending to his Browns career, Derek Anderson heard Browns fans cheering when the quarterback went down in the fourth quarter with a damaged left knee ligament that will probably end his season. "They were cheering the fact that I was hurt," said Anderson after the 10-6 loss to the Colts. "They don't like me. That's well known." The cheering was not lost on his teammates, who were upset by it. One said it was his lowest point in Cleveland Browns Stadium.

That's ridiculous. The Browns fans who cheered are garbage, and I hope that Anderson goes on to make many pro-bowls and all-pro teams with somebody other than the Browns.

If their overrated receivers could hold onto a ball and catch more than a third of the passes fired in their direction, Anderson would have nice numbers.

That is just low

This warrioe man should be given a medal, because he made the Browns last season and when he has to deal with sissys like that boy Winslow - it just ain't fair. They should cut that chump boy WInslow and teach him a very good lesson like.....You ain't as good as your daddy. He is soft like pudding. Word.

"They don't like me."

Ya think?

This is a bit of a tradition in Cleveland. Tim Couch received the same treatment after he went down with an injury. There are times that fans should lighten up. Neither Couch or Anderson woke up one morning and decided to take down the Browns organization from the inside. Besides, Couch brought Heather Kozar to Cleveland. That has to count for something...

The booing was definitely low class and should not be tolerated. As a Browns fan it sickens me to see that happen. It's more sickening than the 10 years of garbage football that we have been subjected to since the team was reborn

Ouch! You could get more love in Philly!

Only if you win.

This is bad. Like the chicken and the egg, which comes first, lousy fans or a lousy team?

December 1, 2008  08:25 AM ET

lifelong browns fans are just frustrated with the promise of a better season each year and getting "wait until next year" for the last 10 years. living in florida, i got the direct tv nfl package just to watch them and feel like i should get my money back. however, there is absolutely no excuse for jeering an injured player, NONE!

She was originally from Akron, IIRC. I agree it's low to cheer when a player is injured like that. Anderson is a fighter at least, not like some of these chumps on the Browns team. But these players don't understand the frustration of Browns fans. We've tolerated the crap they call football for far too long. Too many players seem like they are just there for the paycheck.

They were out in full force yesterday for sure. Signs everywhere that read "Romeo must Go" and "Cowher Nation", etc.

Can't these people wait until the season is over before bringing all this to the games? But you gotta hand it to them, they are forcing ownership's hands.

I don't agree at all with booing when any player is hurt. That's so wrong on so many levels!

Every team has players that act like they are just there for the paychecks and in this day and age, it's sad. Everything you read is about the bad economy and people loosing their jobs and these guys are acting like spoiled little brats.

I hope the Giants go after that ungrateful S-O-B Plaxico and get some of their money back. The second he signed his guaranteed contract, he has acted like a disrespectful fool. It's so sad to me as people struggle everywhere and these guys piss their money away. Some of them of course, not all.

Unless it's Michael Irvin

Yeah, just ask Michael Irvin.

That was awesome! Thanks for the trip down memory lane for that classic! Browns fans are THE WORST lot in the NFL. This franchise needs to be imploded immediately. Coach, GM, and overpaid overrated receivers.

December 1, 2008  08:50 AM ET

The TRUTH has also learned that Braylon Edwards offered to help carry Anderson off the field, but the team was afraid he would drop him too.

You see, that is why Philadelphia fans have one of the worst reputations. But you guys don't care. You actually think it's funny when an opposing player, especially a Cowboy, gets a very serious injury on your field. Believe me, what the Philly fans did that day is still remembered by everyone and is your city is looked upon in disdain for it.

I've been a Browns fan for longer than I care to remember. I think booing an injury is classless and tasteless. However, the ineptitude and incompetence within this organization is well documented. No player should be subjected to this type of behaviour from the fans, but the fans shouldn't be subjected to this type of performance--and we've been sucking it up 40 years.
