Vikings in McNabb's future?

07:19 AM ET 12.01 | It has been clear for a year now that Donovan McNabb, whom Vikings coach Brad Childress coached in Philadelphia as offensive coordinator, has been on Minnesota's radar. McNabb's future with the Eagles seems nearing an end. But at age 32, he is still productive, and considering the Vikings' options at quarterback, he seems a logical fit for Childress. McNabb probably would cost the Vikings a second-round draft pick in a trade, with a possible upgrade depending on how he performs.

McNabb deserves better than he's gotten in Philly.

Randall Cunningham revived his career, albeit briefly, with the Vikes. Of course he had Cris Carter to throw to. Frerotte is doing ok, but he can only take them so far. I just hope the Vikes do something to upgarde the QB position because I hate to see them waste the talent they have now-Peterson, Allen, the Pat and Kevin Williams, that great O-line

The Eagles will not leave themselves with only Kolb as their number one option at QB. For this trade to happen a QB in FA would have to take McNabbs place. I do not think it is going to happen..

This is yet another premature rumor. The season isn't even done yet. A playoff spot for the Eagles is still very realistic.

Oh well, I guess the Minneapolis press has to do something to inspire their team to actually go out and acquire a real quarterback. An outstanding running back, a solid defense....and a couple years where they KNEW QB was a problem spot for the team....and still...no legitimate option waiting in the wings...real bush league Vikes....really bush league.

I'm not a big McNabb fan, but he's easily an upgrade over Frerotte. What makes me laugh is that the Vikings allegedly offered 2 1st round picks for Brady Quinn and would be able to get McNabb for less.

Frankly, I don't see why everyone is down on Ferrotte. He seems to doing a fine job in Minn.

December 1, 2008  09:24 AM ET

Has everyone forgotten that the Vikes have John David Booty on their team?

They don't need McNabb. Booty is their QB of the Future!

HOOAH, as a Vikes fan, I have to both agree and disagree...Frerotte is doing just enough to keep them above water...let's face it a division lead at 7-5 isn't great, but we'll take it, after all, it's a division lead!!! McNabb would give the offense an instant boost and would instantly rejuvinate the "deep ball" threat with Berrian....

I agree with you. But he is doing a lot better than Jackson did. I did see Jackson cheering on the sidelines though. He wasn't moping around like Young does in Tennessee.

McNabb doing a commercial for "United Way" about child obesity was the joke of the week. He really made me laugh.

I know it has nothing to do with the subject above, but being a 'boys fan, McNabb fighting obesity brings a deep laugh to me.

Jackson just needs some time to get some good tutelage under a solid starting QB and a good coach. As I've said before -- he's got an absolute rocket for an arm, he just needs to learn how to use it properly.

the vikings are in alot of trouble just wait to see what the look like without the fatty twins in the middle they need more than just a qb

December 1, 2008  11:50 AM ET

Nice.

December 1, 2008  12:21 PM ET

He should go to Chi-Town, 'cause both their QBs are stinking.

December 1, 2008  12:50 PM ET

Yesterday, it was the Bears in McMabb's future. Today, it's the Vikings. Tomorrow, it'll be the Packers!

Anyway, with Kyle Orton's best impersonation of Rex Grossman in Green Bay two weeks ago and in Minnesota yesterday, the Bears might want to dangle a nice carrot to catch McNabb's eyes .... ASAP!

December 1, 2008  01:50 PM ET

mcnabb should go to the bears so we can whoop 'em some more. nothing against gus but he won't be around too much longer. david booty- no thanks. let's get anderson or quinn from cleveland

Um, DCruiser, no, Pack has a QB. Maybe the Lions? How about the Jets? Oh that's right, the Jets won't know until August if they need a QB...
