Notre Dame waiting for Urban window?
As a Stanford Law School-educated jurist, Jack Swarbrick must be finely attuned to fine print, so Notre Dame's athletic director already may be aware of the following: According to his contract with the University of Florida, Urban Meyer may discuss jobs with other entities only during a period starting with the "final day of the regular football season" and ending seven days after a bowl game. It's a window that presumably opens after Saturday's Southeastern Conference championship game and stays that way for 40 days (a week past the BCS title game on Jan. 8) should Florida beat Alabama to win the SEC title. Swarbrick's season-evaluation meeting with Irish coach Charlie Weis apparently is set for next Monday. Gentlemen, start your rumor mills. Of course, Meyer's window and Swarbrick's appointment with Weis are nothing but hollow coincidence at this point, especially given the heights to which Florida aspires compared to the depths at which the Irish currently wallow. That disparity, also on display Saturday in USC's 38-3 rout of the Irish, will frame how Swarbrick and Notre Dame proceed.

Why would Meyer leave a school like Florida to go to Notre Dame? HA HA This is the REAL WORLD not 1980'd football world

I think the exits of the past few coaches will make some coaches think twice before taking a job at ND. With that being said, ND should still have their pick of almost anyone they want. Who doesn't want a shot at turning around one of the most storied traditions? The right coach could become an instant sensation.

If Meyer took this job, he's a greater dumbass than I give him credit for.

Give Weis one more season. He deserves because he's Charlie Weis who has 3 SuperBowl rings and scored a perfect 1600 on the SAT! He also beat Michigan this year so they really do have to keep him.

Can't see Urban taking the ND job. If the Domers get rid of Weis they would be better served hiring a new coach that runs a traditional offense anyway to better suit their pieces.
Take it from me, going from a traditional offense to a spread offense means a lot of lumps and growing pains for your team.

Warden you forgot that he also has an offensive "schematic advantage" over everybody ND plays. Yes, keep him

Why would he want to leave Florida? SEC recruiting, pleasant weather, and he's building a strong case for BCS Championship this year.

If ND keeps Weis it means that the coach(es) they want do not want them.

According to the Florida Today, Meyer actually wanted to go to Notre Dame when he was being pursued by them, but he wanted his kids to grow up in a nicer environment. Now, he has only one my kid in the nest. This isn't as far fetched as many might think http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20081120/COLUMNISTS0306/811200343/1065 /SPORTS

True, my fellow Buckeye, (I'm originally a Maumeeite neighbor of Dick Kazmaier - Heisman Trophy Winner - 1951 - Princeton), but look at the possibilities other than a mere BCS dynasty at Florida!!! The chance to be named throughout history among the gods with Knute, Leahy, Ara and Lou... then Urban! Granted, the weather is a tad chillier, but so what, put on some layers like CW did! However, I can still dream, just like dreaming that ND will someday join the Big Ten! Please roll me some more medicine, my glaucoma is acting up!

You guys need to remember that Meyer already turned down ND to become UF's coach.

Urban Meyer was a WR coach under Lou Holtz. I'm not going to hold my breath, but ND does have alot of young talent. So it wouldn't take that much to really turn them around. ND has a Fr. QB named Dayn Crist who can run alot better than JC.
Only thing I don't like is Meyer is a lime light coach. Who's to say if he took the ND job & started to bring ND back in the top 20, that he wouldn't leave for the next job?
Maybe ND needs to look at Chris Petersen from Boise St. or Brian Kelly from UC. Young coaches that get the most out of the players, but also where ND would be a bigger stage then the school he's at now. Meyer is at U of FL that's a pretty big stage already.

Yeah he did, but maybe he was looking at the talent from both schools. Charlie has done one good thing and built up the #'s with top recruiting classes the last few years. Now all they need is a coach who can develop that talent.
