Cup team co-owner Ray Evernham has completed his deal to purchase East Lincoln Speedway and said that might not be the last track he buys. "I will try to save race tracks to keep them from becoming shopping malls," Evernham said on Sirius NASCAR Radio.

That's what we need more in this country, more race tracks than shopping malls.

Alot of tracks have closed up and shopping centers have gone in their places, with stores I wouldn't go to in the first place. Give us men somewhere to go, besides the food court.

Good cause for Evernham and I applaude him, but shouldn't he put more cash towards R&D for his team to make them more competitive? Sounds like he is spreading himself a little thin especially if he is investing in tracks that won't turn in a positive return.

He can turn a few bucks renting them out for testing ;-)

It's real estate, even in this market we're looking at a great investment.

Another GREAT investment are Lap Of Luxury Clothing. They should make a "Evernham Track" Shirt

The only reason it would be a great investment is if he did in fact make it a Shopping mall....or a touchless car wash. GOD I LOVE THOSE THINGS!

I like nothing that's Touchless.

Evernham sees the end of the big NASCAR boom coming up and the return of local glory.

The local glory is where the action is. Having lived in New England for many years I was able to go to a number of tracks, Monadnock Speedway, Agawam, Stafford Springs, Thompson, Waterford and Lebanon Valley N.Y. and of course Loudon. The best value for the dollar could always be found at the Friday and Saturday night racing. Looks like Everham has the right idea.

I thought last weeks T&R stated he was leaving NASCAR..making it a moot point of spending cash on 'his' team (which is no longer is anyway)..........

Has Everham got enough money and influence to "rival" Nascar and the France family?

Ray has sold all but 20% of his team, and that 20% is for sale too... he wants out of nascar,he is burned out and he is giving back to the part of the sport he loves so much. small town USA.. keeping local track open, for local racers to race roots type racing..... I tip my hat to him for what he is doing. Local racing is where the good racing is at anyway.. FRANCECAR is losing fans right and left.

Probably not but I bet you do ! !

Very good point. For the value, a race fan can go to a local track more times through the year than one Sprint Cup race and see quality racing. They may not see a Jimmie Johnson or Carl Edwards race, but they'll see door to door racing and isn't that what we all want anyway?

Carson, If I had his money and his girlfriend- I'd drop the girlfriend, take the money, and you would find me down on the Baja with my fishing boat!
