Theus on hot seat in Sacramento?

I'd be surprised if Reggie Theus in Sacramento doesn't get the boot any day now with attendance and the team in the tank after ownership already dumped on him earlier this season and six straight home losses. Theus was good last season and is missing his best scorer, but who cares. Eh? A 44-point quarter by the undermanned Jazz last week didn't help, either.

Give the guy some budweiser!

Any coach who's team is playing bad is always in trouble of losing his job, so this news comes as no surprise. But the Kings are rebuilding and do have a lot of injuries so what do people expect?

December 2, 2008  08:59 AM ET

He shouldn't be on the hotseat. The Kings are in pure rebuilding mode. Right now they have a roster that no coach could succeed with. Give Theus the time to grow these kids up. At least give him until some point next season, anyway.

lol what do u expect from the guy, they let artest go in the summer, and their top scorer is injured , what do they have left udrih and salmons ?/ u expect to win in the west with those two , i cant think of a coach who can make this team win , u need talent on the court to win games regardless of the coach

He's got no horses. You can win a race without horses.

The Sacremento Monarchs are tougher than these wimps, they should change it the Sacremento Queens!

Very true. He has no horses. The Maloofs should stop interfering with basketball operations. The last coach they chose, Eric Musselman, didnt pan out either. At least, Theus gets this kids to play hard. They had a couple of games where they just got beat in the last minute including the Spurs and Suns game. But the Utah game was a stinker of course. The rookie Jason Thompson will be solid as the season continues.

Coaches on teams that are on rebuild mode should be given a longer leash. Continuity is key when you have young players on your roster. Kevin Martin, while not a star, is a solid and efficient player. Their rookies have potential: Jason Thompson, Bobby Brown and Donte Green. But you gotta give them time to mature as NBA players. The Maloofs are dreaming if they expect the Kings to contend for a playoff spot.

"Rebuilding" assumes you had something to start with. I agree. Theus isn't the problem. Asking him to make this team winners, is asking him to do something he isn't capable of doing.

December 2, 2008  11:53 AM ET

Even with Artest on this team, they still wont be making the playoffs. This team is part youngsters who arent ready to carry a team yet (Martin, Hawes and Udrih) AND part veterans whose seen better playing days (Brad Miller, Bobby Jackson and Kenny Thomas). Rebuilding needs patience.

They should have never got rid of Rick Adelman, he had a system going there and this rebuilding process wouldnt be as long.

Plus the Kings have injuries to Francisco Garcia and Kevin Martin

The rookie Jason Thompson has looked good. One who doesnt need many touches to put up decent numbers. Much like Kevin Martin. Unfortunately, Martin has been injured. My fantasy stats are getting killed with him sidelined.

Good point outside of Kevin Martin, Quincy Douby, and the kid from Rider, Thompson, I don't know a player on their roster.

You know who Douby is, but not John Salmons or Beno Udrih!!!

Theus is a joke. He cares about more what he looks like than how well his team is doing. Sacramento management must have a few too many drinks at their casino when they decided to hire a coach with basically no experience.
Sincerely, an ex Kings fan!

I wonder how P.J.Carlisimo feels about this?

December 3, 2008  12:16 AM ET

they should get a more experienced coach, someone who could tutor the young players.... maybe jeff van gundy or paul silas

He should sign Julie Connor
