Several teams interested in Marbury

It seems Stephon Marbury could get his buyout and release from the Knicks Monday, and there'll be no shortage of suitors, though as I often say, Life is too short to have Marbury on your team. Anyway, it seems the Mavs, Heat, Warriors, Raptors, Magic, Wizards, Timberwolves (now that would be funny) and Suns also seem like possibilities, though Dallas, Miami and Golden State seem to have expressed the most interest if Marbury is freed and they have to pay just a veteran's minimum.

miami should not pick up marbury because they are rebuilding and marbury is a cancer and would only slow everything down. i dont understand why dallas would want him and golden state needs a distributer not a shooter when they hav maggette, jackson, and ellis when he returns, to score.

Wow, all of a sudden, Marbury no longer appears to be the"problem" the Knicks claimed he was. The Knicks are such LOSERS, they constantly make poor decision after poor decision.

Do you have any suggestions on how the Knicks could have handled this besides paying him 22mil to go play somewhere else. Don't forget Malik Rose and Jerome James are in the same boat as Marbury but they are not causing any problems.

Marbury and drama is like golf ball and grass - they always go together.

NBA greats like Kevin McHale, Kevin Garnet, Isiah Thomas, Dave Cowens, Larry Brown, Coach Scott, Mike D'Antoni & Mike DiAntoni, Walsh etc have not been able to make him right. It's him and not the Knicks.

Marbury= MAVS FIRST NBA CHAMPIONSHIP

2009 NBA CHAMPIONS

I think he would fit nicely with the Magic, he could take them to the next level, as with the Mavs. A PG duo of Marbury and Kidd would be good, albeit old. Unless they play Marbury at the two sometimes and at the point others. However if he goes to the Mavs and they fail to win a championship then I think they will get rid of him and half of the team. The Mavs and the Suns are classed as elite teams, but not teams that will win a ring. Rebuild both teams. Now if the Mavs still had Harris who is an all-star this year, AND Marbury coming off the bench that Mavs team would definetly be challening for a ring, and the core of the team would be able to compete for a few more seasons. Right now the Mavs are old, get rid of Kidd, Marbury and Dampier if it doesn't work this year.

That's if they even sign Marbury.

What are the Wizards doing on this list? The last thing they need is Starbury coming in. I think Miami or Orlando are the best fits.

December 2, 2008  08:57 AM ET

This all depends on the Knicks actually buying him out. I get a weird feeling that Walsh isn't going to let Starbury win this one.

That's hilatious MAVS 08...just hilarious!

I unfortunately agree-
they are going to just leave him home to rot
on top of all the money they are paying him

I see a repeat in the finals ... this time the Lakers will give the celts a better series. a healthy Bynum should help.

Marbury wins no matter what. If he stays with the Knicks, he gets paid 22 mil to sit on his butt. If he gets bought out, he gets paid and then plays somewhere else for a contract next year.

Marbury is wack!!!!

I tend to agree J. Doesn't it feel like Walsh and D'A are somehow trying to prove to the world that they're NOT Isiah with the hardline they're taking? I can't stand Marbury, but this has gone way beyond business and has become extremely personal on both sides at this point.

I'll have to agree with Go_Bills on this one. Some of these teams seem iffy but why would the Wizards be on this list? The last thing The Wizards need is another point guard when they have two recovering from injuries and coming back to battle for playing time.

Even I'm fiending for Miami to pick up this guy since he would be the most talented free agent miami has signed in a while under Riley. Riley has made Heat fans so desperate for talent as he sits on his hands that I hope we take Marbury even with his baggage...Why? Because DWade needs help. He's scoring 30-40 pts, high assists, good rebounding, etc. in games and still losing...on his bad nights he's scoring 20-26 and still losing...DWade will see how much he's outputting but is still losing and doesn't have much talent around him and walk to another team when his free agency appears...many don't realize it, but Wade wants to be seen as great and has a lot of money...so he will look at a max deal, but not necessarily the largest, but one with a talented team that can win championships and maybe become a dynasty...The Heat is auditioning for Wade's services and currently are failing miserably.

no body loves the mavs more than me. but at the same time, thinking there is any way we're going to win in 08 (even more so WITH starbury) ... that is just sad and misguided.

Heater, of all the free agents in the class of 2010 I think D-Wade is the most likely to saddle up and go. He wants more rings, he wants to be discussed in the same breath as James, Kobe, and Paul. Riley has been making some really bad decisions lately and Wade has been silent about them.

The one thing you have in your favor is that Wade really likes and respects Riley so if Riles just gets him a little help, he'll stay. He should try to bring AK47 to Miami and Marbury might not be a bad move either, especially if he can get him for the league minimum.

well i did say chalmers had to have a back to back good game for me to call the kid "Super Mario". Seeing as we have Super Mario & Quinn Wade County does not need for Starbury to enter our town!
