Because of his own soaring stock and the need for stability in Oregon's football program, offensive coordinator Chip Kelly is now the Ducks' coach-in-waiting, and Mike Bellotti will make room for him by becoming his boss. That was the announcement Tuesday from outgoing UO president Dave Frohnmayer, in a hastily arranged conference call that ended lengthy speculation about who will succeed Pat Kilkenny as Oregon's next athletic director but offered few answers as to the timeline of the move. Kelly was reportedly due to interview for the head coaching job at Syracuse today. Bellotti, with ties to Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross from their days at UC Davis, probably knew of the Orangemen's seriousness.

Syracuse is a broke program...good move on Chip's part. Uncle Phil will make sure this program continues to thrive.
