USC receiver to transfer

By mining a national recruiting base, USC has stockpiled talent that has the Trojans in contention for a seventh consecutive Bowl Championship Series bowl game. But USC is discovering that too much depth can be problematic. On Tuesday, Vidal Hazelton, USC's leading wide receiver in 2007 but a seldom used reserve this season, requested and received his release to transfer to another school. Hazelton, a junior from New York, is the second out-of-state player to leave the team in the last few weeks. Tailback Broderick Green, an Arkansas native, said Saturday that he would transfer to Arkansas. "A lot of things played into my decision," Hazelton said in a phone interview. "Football had something to do with it, but my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and being closer to home is the main thing."

Come to the Vols

His father never wanted Vidal to go to USC in the first place. At the time he wanted his son to go to Penn State.

Vidal is from Staten Island so it wouldn't shock me if Rutgers comes into play for him. It's a short drive from the north shore of Staten Island to New Brunswick.

Or if he has to go the 1-AA route so he doesn't lose any more eligibility maybe he goes to Hofstra or something.

Geez, if this were a michigan receiver transfering there'd be 100 comments already, mostly by **** ohio state fans who are still learning to read. You guys are cool though.

the Canes could use him...his grandfather might like the warmer climate.

This guy never should have come to SC... I don't know if he is overhyped or not... Seemed to be a little injury prone... He showed some promise... But never found his groove with us... Hopefully he finds a good landing spot for himself

Going to a school far from home def has its disadvantages...thoughts and prayers for his grandfather

Yep, you're correct..it actually came down to PSU or USC...and oh well, Cali babes and everything else that goes with it won the boy over...it'll be interesting to see which way he goes now...play now or play later.

Don't laugh but look out for Arkansas in 2 more years. Petrino is recruiting pretty well there and let's not forget about Mallett[sp?] starting in 09...Petrino will make them a winner again.

Doesn't surprise me, he fell way down on the depth chart. Rojo and D Will tore it up this year. I Hope Aus stays, looking for this kid to have a breakout season next year.

Good luck to Vidal, this kid deserves to get his touches.

Fight On!

There are no love between USC and UCLA...but from what I hear....its pure hate between Mich and OSU......

Petrino will be the quitter he is and leave before he has a chance to that.....Loser, coward, quitter.

Ah, you read too many headlines...he belongs in College football...so what if left Atlanta...he'll see it through in for awhile any way...

Vidal has a superstar name, and I was wondering what happened to him. I believe he came in at the same time as Mark Sanchez, but I guess if you keep injuring yourself, what can you do? How many more years of eligibility could he have as a junior, since he has to sit out next year when he transfers? One season? Ask Sam Keller how that turned out.
