Colvin may rejoin Patriots

A familiar face could soon return to Foxboro to give the Patriots injury-ravaged defense another body - Rosevelt Colvin. The Patriots worked out the veteran linebacker yesterday and a source close to the former starter believed there was a good chance a deal would be reached. The Pats have an opening and a need. They placed cornerback Jason Webster on season-ending injured reserve yesterday, creating a spot on the 53-man roster that could be filled by Colvin. The 31-year-old Colvin has been seeking work since being cut by the Texans at the end of training camp. He spent five years with the Patriots from 2003 to 2007 and is intimately familiar with playing outside linebacker in the team's 3-4 system.

You're a hater.

Thats funny I read the article and the only thing I thought I could comment on is Belichick smiling. Then viola thats all you guys could come up with.

You know, I respect the Patriots tremendously (read: I am not a fan of any team in the AFC East), but you have to call a spade a spade.... he looks like he is getting through a bad bout of constipation in that photo.

And who knew Colvin was a street free agent right now, he used to be the goods. He'd be a natural to patch up an injury-ravaged D for them, he played Bellichick D for years now and is a selfless, team guy.

I hope Colvin has been staying in shape and not just laying around the house eating.

One more thing......some people just shouldn't smile........just sayin'.

PW,
I think FN relishes in getting the worst possible photo available. I think there is a wonderful one of Goodell they trot out that makes him look the victim of an impromptu colonoscopy and a really nice one of Jerry "What plastic surgery..?" Jones.

It's too bad that no one has anything intelligent to say about Colvin possibly returning. Instead there's nonsense.

Belichick with a grin on his face looks like Hannibal Lecter in silence of the lambs......no wonder he doesn't smile too much.......

Who really cares what the PATRIOTS do?

December 4, 2008  12:44 PM ET

I think that Colvin coming back will turn out to be a bigger thing than it might look like at first glance. He's rested, knows the system very well and can fit in the schemes nicely.

It will probably benefit Mike Vrabel as well since together they not only can get after the quarterback, but also set the edge against the run. Not an answer for a problem secondary, but there's nothing like a consistent pass rush and this won't hurt.

This could turn out to be pretty good.

Colvin coming back means Thomas isn't coming back for certain. The Pats, at the very least, need to go 3-1 in the last four to have a shot at the playoffs. Colvin will help a very weak defense as of late. I am surprised that Lynch wasn't brought back after Harrison went down. As a Pats fan, I'm still happy with this season. They have played hard despite losing key players.
