Browns GM may lose power or job

Acknowledging he's under fire, Browns General Manager Phil Savage said Wednesday he's operating "business as usual" until he and the coaching staff come under review by owner Randy Lerner after the season. There is increasing speculation that in order to return, Savage may have to give up some authority. He is one of about 22 NFL general managers with contractual control over the selection of the 53-player roster.

Phil Savage created only one winning season with his "vision". And to be honest, last years 10-6 season was against one of the NFL's easiest schedules. Former head coach, Butch Davis wa able to get this franchise into the playoffs and Savage/Crennel can't? Does this mean they are not even as good as Davis? Yikes!!!!

Hopefully Randy Lerner gets rid of both Savage and Doughboy.

Twice for good measure!!!!

If that's what it takes to get a coach with a decent resume in here, then so be it. I don't want a paper tiger that is supposedly better with all the talent on the team. I want a team that's actually going to win a couple games, regardless of the schedule.

" with out naming any names, or placing any blame, it is all the coaches fault".....P. Savage

Thats what I got from that article...

Simple solution - fire the GM and all the coaches - trade away any player you can get a draft pick for - release the rest and start all over next year

You hit the nail on the head. This guy has been working overtime lately to cover his butt. Even though it was him that just signed Tubby an extension in the the off season.

Savage HAS DONE his job!! He has brought in talented players. Nobody doubts that Browns have the talent, but player seem to lack discipline. So the players Savage is putting on the field are good, the question is can Crennel (as the Coach) shape them up and make them play disciplined football and up to their capabilities. Savage should NOT be in the hot-seat at ALL. Crennel should get one more season to judge if this season was a lapse or set back (they started the first several games with seven starters missing - something that has always seemed to go overlooked) or whether he is just not the Coach Browns hoped he would be. I only hope next season the Browns throw that conservative play calling (especially when they have the lead) out the door and coach and play to WIN not as though they are trying NOT TO LOSE!

DA was having a GREAT year??????? Which season or games were you watching? I doubt you were watching at all. DA has been VERY inaccurate this seaason and the last 5 games of the previous season. He could not hit the side of a barn in the pro bowl. What ever drug your on, I think all Cleveland fans could use it....reality is not as sweet as the hallucination your having!!

The Browns have the talent to win...they are just not well prepared or very disciplined. Savage's job is to get the talent, the coaches job is to mold it. Crennel has not lived up to his end of the bargain and I would agree with replacing him with a veteran coach...NO MORE newbies. Cleveland needs a coach who is going to command respect from his players!
