05:20 PM ET 12.04 | University of Miami senior guard Jack McClinton will play against Kentucky on Saturday. McClinton, who leads the No. 21 Hurricanes (4-2) with 15.2 points per game, was ejected Tuesday against Ohio State after slapping Ohio State's Anthony Crater in the face. The Atlantic Coast Conference office reviewed the play and determined that the officials administered the call properly and that no further action will be taken. "Jack is absolutely a leader and valued member of this team," Miami coach Frank Haith said. "He's a young man of high character who reacted inappropriately and has paid the price. Now we will move forward and re-focus on men's basketball and our upcoming game at Kentucky."

LMAO!!!
He hits another player in the face but the coach says he's a leader and has high character. Sure. And in other news, 2+2=eleventeen and I'm the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln's grandmother.

i think he paid the right price, his team lost becuase of his dumb retarded play. they lost to a team they were beating handily when he got kicked out. so hes done his time. he might be someone of high character that made a mistake, you dont know him dont make a judgement on him based on watching him play for 20 mins.

Just a few days ago Frank Haith was justifying why his player of "high character" hit another player during a game, and criticized him being ejected. Now Franky boy says his player reacted inappropriately and paid his price. I don't know this McClinton personally so I won't judge his character, but I can judge his actions as well as his Coach's. Both of them are suspect at best. I put more disappointment on Haith being that he's a grown man.

Frank Haith made the right call. His first statements where made at the press conference following the game and his later ones where made after viewing the tape and having time to think about the incident. In McClinton's defense, he is a senior who had never until this point even had a flagrant foul against him. He is undoubtedly the leader of this Miami team but made a dumb move after he got hit in the face. He and the team paid for his actions.
It is incredible how quickly people judge others. If people knew McClinton's demeanor and how embarrassed he was after the game they would not be judging him.

The punishment fit the crime. He got hit in the face (accidentally - it happens) with no foul called, got pissed, and took a swipe. It was a bad decision, yes, but really more of a reaction. That happens, too. So, toss him from the game, but then that's that. He doesn't need to be disciplined further. It doesn't mean he's a bad kid. I played basketball in high school - sometimes tempers flared, but that didn't mean we were hot-heads, poor sports, or thugs. We just lost our composure & had to get it back again. If he does it again, then I'd say there's an "issue" - until then, let it go...

I wouldn't go that far.....after watching them in person I'm not sold on anything. I'll take the big wins but I'm not gonna get too excited.
Oh, and I'd be surprised if a Miami player didn't do this.

For all you basketball experts out there, accidently hitting someone in the face while going for the ball is NOT a foul. McClinton showed a lapse of judgement, by not sitting him one game his coach showed a lack of character.
