McNabb wants sit-down with Eagles

The day after welcoming newborn twins into is family, Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb is looking for a different type of love from the Eagles. McNabb yesterday reiterated his desire to speak with the front office regarding his future, a subject he first broached on the NFL Network following his four touchdown performance in last week's 48-20 rout the Arizona Cardinals at Lincoln Financial Field. The reason for such talks? "We'll discuss that when the times comes,'' McNabb said. "At this particular point it's really important for us to focus on who are playing and that is the Giants (Sunday). The conversation will happen. It will be at the end of the season.' While McNabb tap-danced around the issue yesterday, he was not so shy following the win over Arizona. McNabb was so intent to get out the message that he wants a sit-down with head coach Andy Reid, team president Joe Banner and owner Jeffrey Lurie that he dropped in on the NFLN postgame crew unannounced Thursday. Asked by analyst Warren Sapp about the meeting he had with Reid after being benched against the Baltimore Ravens Nov. 23, McNabb was much more forthcoming. "We just kind of aired some things out,'' said McNabb, whose contract that runs through 2010, but none of the remaining money is guaranteed. "I didn't get to what I wanted to talk about, but we will have that conversation with Andy as well as some other people in the organization. I think it is very important. I've been here 10 years and a conversation is needed.'' A conversation about what, exactly? "That's going to be something we'll talk about behind closed doors,'' he said. Even if McNabb goes 4-0 the rest of the way and leads the Eagles (6-5-1) into the playoffs for only the second time since Super Bowl XXXIX, any conversation is not likely to include talk of a new contract that will keep him in Philadelphia.

He didn't drop by unannounced. They called for him to get up there to talk to him. Especially Deion who wanted to congratulate him and rip on the Eagles fans.

McNabb did handle the interview with class. He wasn't going to run his mouth and air out the dirty laundry on a national audience unlike other players. But that still doesn't guarantee that he's going to be on the team next year.

Hopefully he'll offer to drop his pay to free up money to build a strong team around him - get to a superbowl and make the money back making TV ads. Come on Donny - think long term!

McNabb for $1/year for the next 3 years.

December 5, 2008  08:26 AM ET

he wants to talk about where his sucky a.s.s is going to be next year. Hopefully not on my Bears.

December 5, 2008  08:35 AM ET

In other words... get ready Chicago - your saviour QB is on his way...

Dayummm....well, right now lets just try and win these games, but i dont see a bright future for the eagles with kolb at all. As much as McNabb did or didnt play good. Kolb is no contest to McNabb. You can hate all you want but the fact of the matter is that eagles have a better chance to win when McNabb is on the field the wehn kolb is.

how the hell is a bears fan complaining about a qb with Mcnabbs numbers? Even if Mcnabb plays the he has played this year with the bears next year its still an upgrade over the crap you have currently.

Deion had every right to rip those fans... I get sick of hearing them on talk radio every week ragging mcnabb as if he is rodney peete and then praise jeff garcia and kevin kolb as if they are on the same level. McNabb gets bood for EVERYTHING... three and outs... booo, dropped pass booo, ball knocked down at the line...booo, getting sacked booo. he has not received fair treatment in philly for one year he has been here. Even the superbowl year...the credit went to Owens not mcnabb.

Can we pass that on to your intern so she can ruin your lunch again? Reminds me of that movie with Adam Sandler, "Click" when he breaks wind in David Hasselhoff's face. Classic.

It's never too early. Comic relief is welcome on a Friday.
